YASB: A Question or 2

By Darth Meanie, in X-Wing

So, the first one is practical: I've started using this builder in it's 1.0 version, and can't seem to get my chosen list reordered by PS. Is there a way to do this?

The second is opinion. For those of you who like this builder, why is it your favorite?

Answer 1: delete it and rebuild in PS order

Answer 2: convenience, speed of use, easy output to other sources

Yeah, I was afraid of that.

That is kind of a PIA to do when you make Epic lists.

Which for #2 makes it not so convenient and not so fast for me. :(

1. I often just clone the ship and it moves to the bottom of the list. Then of course if it was a unique pilot you have to edit it a little but most of the upgrades will be there. Its a little clunky but you get used to it. Do this 2 or 3 times if needed and they will be in the order you want. If building multiples of named pilots with similar builds in the same chassis, you can build a generic, clone it several times and then edit each to the ace you wanted.

2. Was one of the first ones I found. It worked. We fear change. I stayed with it. Also, I like the look when I print the lists in their fancy format. It has all the abilities so its real easy to consult instead of having to read all the cards individually.

Edit: For Epic, I often do one list with the Huge ship and then a second with the fighter components. It makes it a little easier to read what you have. Just make sure you add your points up correctly and don't duplicate uniques.

Sounds like I'm better off just taking a pair of scissors to my printout. I usually print, play, toss, and build a new list anyways.

For me the gray bars make the info hard to read. And impossible to read on a B+W only printer. But I do like the full info/card free printouts.

Problem is, the gray bars and full info go hand-in-hand.

Yeah BW makes it tough, I admittedly print in color.

I use it because it supports explorative list building so well.

It’s too bad X-wing Squadron Builder seems to no longer be supported. It was excellent but, now, I can’t get my saved squadrons or my collection to load. I just get the red spinny thingie forever.

Yep. I loved that builder, and felt it was much easier to use. All the ships and all the pilots visible all at once. I also liked the very clear stat bar when printed.

It looks like he might have done some work in July, but the databases are still obviously corrupted.

And it sorted your list by PS.

And the slack channel has a bit that recognises a YASB url and automatically parses it into a neat summary. That's the main reason I dumped other builders - if I wanted to share a list I had to remake it in YASB anyway!

I guess I never really needed that feature. I could create a text file to copy and past, and that was enough for me. I didn't need a way to electronically share a list as a file.
