Recon on Sylluria {MAFIA}

By The Jabbawookie, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

OKay if there's a sane cop, unless you targeted Ovi last night nows the time to speak!

2 killers would put us at lylo if im right. 3 town 2 scum, if we lynch another town we lose. So we got to be careful

however if it's 1 killer that would be..

4 town 1 scum

either way we control the vote today, and if we do have a cop, that's two town i can back on a vote

Also it's 2am over here, so I don't know how long i'll be awake for

Ok - we've got this.

Ovi - yeah, that's not great.

I am at work right now, so can't really post much - I'm about two and a half hours away from thinking and posting rationally.

By "we've got this" I mean - 5 players, 1 scum (very unlikely there are two!)

During our break I learned a new term:

  • "Tunneling", or concentrating excessively on a single player out of proportion to what would be necessary

What we all witnessed during the last round was an agressive, relentless and cocksure assault by Ebon against Matt. To my mind this fits neatly within the definition of tunneling. But what I don’t know is how unusual this is for Ebon, if at all. Has this really been just Ebon being Ebon? Or has his performance in this game been over the top even for him?

I have a theory, but I need input from those who’ve played with Ebon before.

Ok, so here are my vote thinkings: (I'm going to assume that Jabbawookie has put people in their right voting order)

Matt3412 - lynched - voted for a couple of folk, ended on EbonHawk.

Hammered (Ebonhawk) (Clontroper5) (Ovinomanc3r) (Lord Preyer)

Gengis Jon - second vote for Lord Preyer - had the opportunity to jump on Matt3412, did not take it.

ovinomanc3r - third vote for Matt - killed by mafia

LTD - first vote for Lord Preyer

Lord Preyer - reluctantly changed to Matt3412 at Matt's suggestion / insistence? Second time as the hammer vote.

clontroper5 - second vote for Matt3412

EbonHawk - first vote for Matt3412

From this list, I have a couple of suspects - but I need to go back check some things first.

It seems as though ovinmanc3r started the train on Matt3412, then jumped off for a bit, then jumped back on.

Let's compare the pair (every Australian is laughing right now, I promise (well, every Australian with an industry super fund, anyway)) of lists.

The list of folks who voted for Podracer:
EbonHawk - still alive
Caldias - killed by mafia - serial killer
GengisJon - still alive
GhostofNobodyinParticular - killed by serial killer - mafia
ClonTroper5 - still alive
Matt3412 - now dead, town vanilla
Lord Preyer - still alive

Those who did not vote for Podracer
ovinomanc3r - now dead, town vanilla
LTD - me - still alive
PodRacer - now dead, town insane cop
Madaghmire - eliminated, town one shot vigilante

Of the Seven who voted Podracer, four are still alive.
Three of that four voted for Matt3412, along with ovinomanc3r.
EbonHawk
ClonTroper5
Lord Preyer

I have good feelings about Lord Preyer, even though he has been the hammer vote twice - this last time he was very reluctant. He's pretty solid town in my opinion, or an amazing genius.

I also think Gengis Jon is pretty solidly town, with his refusal to go and hammer Matt. Strangely, I think these two are town even though they did different things in the same situation - either could have hammered Matt. Perhaps Gengis Jon is scum, hoping for a no lynch result? Probably not.

I think EbonHawk is quite suspicious as the first voter for both Pod and Matt (although ovinomanc3r was the first vote, it seems EbonHawk did not know this). However, I think EbonHawk is a bit too pushy to be scum - he is playing his fairly standard in-your-face style @Gengis Jon , so I don't know if it is tunneling. EbonHawk is second on my list of suspects.

Which leads me to clontroper5 - top of my list of suspects. He appears in both lynch trains. He isn't as pushy as EbonHawk, but he stuck to Matt pretty determinedly, even as Gengis Jon and Lord Preyer were pushing back.

I am, of course, open to suggestions. But for now, and to get the ball rolling:

2/2:

Sithspawn!

I just lost my whole first comm to you guys. Darric, next time you say: ‘oh, just piggyback your signal on an ISB wave’ you try make it work!

Here goes again.

Seems like our blue friend was right, we’ve got scum amongst our own. That’s why these missions need us calling ourselves ‘Hand of Justice’ not just “Judgement” - it ain’t right for Stormies to not be able to trust Stormies.

As of this morning I read TK- @LTD and TK- @Gengis Jon as loyal. The former just doesn’t read as Scum and the latter though pushing on me (because of the way I speak - stop laughing Joak!) didn’t kill our guys even when he had the chance.

In contrast, TK- @clontroper5 and TK- @ebon hawk have both been on both friendly fire shots (as have I - I know, I know...). Clon didn’t shift even when I begged him to. Ebon though a bit hotter than usual (maybe tunneling but that’s not a slam dunk) has been like this ever since Korriban... *shudders*

So those two are my top suspects today.

My last thought is that Ebon’s right though, if there is an ISB cop (with his head screwed on the right way) now’s the time for him to share his scans.

Please have the Gillia waiting for me at the RDZ in 2 cycles time. I need to ship out while I still have my skin!

Twice now you’ve had me voting for Pod. Never did.

BANTHA POODOO!!

I could have sworn by the stars that Ovi was the traitor...

Also the amount of troll in jabba's first post, priceless.

Well it appears I have picked up suspicion... *sigh*

My take: last night I thought there was 2 possible Scum: @ovinomanc3r and @EbonHawk .

I was clearly wrong on ovi, I also thought @Lord Preyer or @LTD would be the target of the scum, I was also wrong...

Upon review, while I still think @EbonHawk is suspicious, I am thinking that less now then I was last night...

That leaves @Gengis Jon UN mentioned, now he hasn't voted for the hammer either day which takes suspicion away, still possible he is either that clueless or that genius and is the Scum, but I doubt it.

so we have

Me @clontroper5 well, I could definitely see why I could be looking a little like Scum...to be fair! I genuinely thought Matt was Scum! Honest!

@LTD , hasn't voted for the hammers yet, leaves him looking pretty townie...

@Lord Preyer hammer vote TWICE, otherwise has been putting out very town vibes, but those hammer votes... Hard to ignore

@EbonHawk well we all know Ebon, pretty suspicious constantly which makes him seem not that suspicious but he is still suspicious...

@Gengis Jon same as above, he is either a Criminal mastermind or town.

back on and catching up

I agree with you about LP, and Gengis. more so LP, and I think gengis is just new and learning

Tbf I'm suspicious most games as Clon said, just part and parcel of how I play, either makes people think I'm town as they come, or scum as ****

I have to agree about Clon though, as I said yesterday/today, he's been a lil lurker, and his post asking who to vote for is still ringing in my mind now... just why?

My suspicion remains focused squarely on @Lord Preyer and @ebon hawk

Here's why...

Ebon -- Upon review of the back and forth from the previous day I was struck by how much I was swayed by Ebon's relentless attack on Matt. Ebon kept insisting how much Matt was both not answering this questions and deflecting to others. The more Ebon banged his anti-Matt drum, the more I bought into both of his points. But looking back, I realized this wasn't as clear-cut as Ebon was having us believe. Matt was giving his reasons. Maybe not as fully formed as others would like, but he was giving them. And they weren't without merit. Same goes for his deflections. Even in the context of being unsure of his innocence in the moment, his defensiveness in the face of Ebon's fusillade was understandable. All the more so, now that we know his innocence.

But maybe all that can be chalked up to Ebon's playing style. After all, even he says he like to press people's buttons and see how they react. Maybe even he got caught up in his own process and then fooled even himself when he thought he smelled blood. Maybe. But I find interesting that I did essentially the same thing to him when I started calling him a bully. This was, in part, an experiment to see how he would react. And boy did he. He seemed to become just as obsessed with my name calling as he was with Matt. If ever there was a case of "protesting too much" this seemed like one of them. So, he was either actually super but-hurt over being called a bullying, or worried that someone was getting a bead on his scuminess. I'm not sure.

Lord Preyer -- As other's have pointed out he's now twice landed the hammer vote. Yep, that's a red flag. What I find just as interesting, however, is his offer to fall on his own sword JUST before that. It was so altruistic! So selfless! And then so quickly retracted and replaced with his hammer on Matt. Yes, I know the clock was ticking. But wow, that was quite the about-face! Again this totally fits with the character I've been imagining him playing. Like Ebon, perhaps, artfully in step with his usual personality, but -- maybe just maybe -- a little more so.

The one thing that gives me pause about Ebon is that he tried to talk LP out of his grand gesture. This would have been the perfect time for a scum agent to say "well, okay, if you must but I still think it's Matt" and then let LP die. It would have been practically a two-for-one deal, bc Ebon would then have been perfectly positioned to say "See I told you!" at the loss of LP's innocent life and then rally everyone against his primary target Matt. If, that is, Ebon was scum and knew LP wasn't.

Finally, when I asked if Ebon has been acting a bit over the top, I was most interested to see LP's response. "A bit hotter than usual" he said.

LP is not exactly throwing Ebon under the bus with a line like that, but that's definitely a bit of nudge into traffic. It certainly *might* be just the ah-shucksy way a super-nice, super helpful kinda guy (who's actually scum) might say something to draw my attention to Ebon without seeming overly scummy himself.

So, all that said, my vote remains the same.

Why on earth would you have thought Ovi was scum?

This seems like a great way to not accuse any of us of being scum, then wait it out for someone to accuse anyone but you? then come out saying they look scum as well???

AND AND AND, if you could've sworn ovi was a traitor why not switch your vote for him yesterday when LP ASKED??? Oh young clon

100% correct on Jabbas trolling though!

I will cede this one, had a lot on my mind this week at home..

However, while I like reasoning for LP and can see that exact situation, Clons just more suspicious for me, and I will be amazed if LP rolls scum

I also feel as no cop seems to be showing himself I'll amp up some perssure

is this a breadcrumb, are you not vanilla LP?

Also if I was a betting man, Ovi was killed for two reasons.

1. As stated Yesterday me and Ovi and the two vets left alive, which leads us to

2. After my day yesterday, killing ovi is smart, as me the only other vet left (me) would be ripe for targeting in the lynch, after the matty incident.

So you don't have to believe I'm town, but look closely at any wagon that is started on me, as I don't think it was a coincidence a vet died last night...

I'm gunna re-read Ovis game and see who else he was throwing shade on, and would've been likely to target today, as that may be the answer
