Best buddy for Dash in 2.0?

By StriderZessei, in X-Wing

Brainstorming some lists between here and Reddit, and while I'm stoked for 2.0, I'm also super-bummed I won't ever get to fly him with Corran again (barring major point reductions.)

Here's what I'm seeing as Dash's "standard" build, clocking in at a solid 135 points .

Dash Rendar : Outrider title, Trick Shot, Perceptive Co-Pilot, Agile Gunner.

That leaves us with 65 points to work with.

Part of me wants to run Fenn Rau for 52 points , leaving us a little bit of wiggle room for crew and upgrades. This gives us the ability to coordinate Dash's arc rotation at In6, and so perhaps we upgrade Agile Gunner into Bistan . This makes Dash always has a shot, if not two.

Suppose we choose to pick a wingman with a bit more teeth. Luke Skywalker is, again, too expensive to fly with Dash, but there are two other good X-Wing pilots:

Wedge Antilles , Death Star killer of fame, also costs 52 points. However, rather than utility, he brings serious damage output and In6. With Lone Wolf and R5 Astromech , he brings the list to 198 points . Not too shabby, but he doesn't have fun tools like munitions.

Lastly, there's Thane Kyrell. He costs 48 points, but is still a respectable In5, and brings some fun shenanigans to the list. Dash should be able to reliably deal damage, and Thane can turn those into crits, which are generally much more detrimental in 2.0. If we could shave some points off Dash, perhaps by dropping Perceptive Co-Pilot for Seasoned Navigator, we can truss Thane up with Proton Torpedoes and Munitions Failsafe, as well as R5 and Outmaneuver.

What are your thoughts? What do you see running with the big YT?

The best buddy for Dash is a garbage bag

but yeah, Jan sounds like a good idea ?

What do you mean? Do you think 2.0 has left him in a weaker space, or are you just letting your 1.0 biases discolor your opinion of him in 2.0?

Allow me to reiterate. *Ahem*

In 2.0.

Both weaker and bias

I think he's really expensive, hilariously so, but he also has to be. Not sure how one's going to take him and an anemic ship to victory, hut I also don't want him buffed or **** spiral out of control

At least my time with Moldy Crow suggests it can really hold its own...but unfortunately that's in the case of Palob with Lando crew

Might want to look into perceptive, moldy Kyle if you can. You don't get the same deathstar effect, but you'll probably need the mods more and you'll have a perceptive HWK to fall back to if dash dies

Because Moldy doesn't actually limit the number of focus you can have at a time (can only keep two after round ends), a perceptive Crow can derp around with four focus from turn to turn

Fitting that with Bistan Dash is just gravy

Note: been playing against a LOT of ace + miniswarm...almost every game, in fact. So my opinion sways away from focus + evade (jyn) to just "THROW AS MUCH FOCUS AS YOU CAN AT THE PROBLEM!!!"

The Reports of Miranda's demise have been...somewhat exaggerated...

I like it, but I feel that you're paying a lot for Luke, but don't have enough to complete him. For what you're paying, you're better off with Wedge.

Fenn Rau for sure to give him that end of round flexibility to rotate Arc or Barre roll.

Luke doesnt need much. He is basically Poe w/ adv optics. Naked Luke is a beast.

Edit: Also, HSG on Dash doesnt require an opponent to spend tokens. So if they forget, and dont modify their dice, they lose a token anyways after the modify defense dice step. Or if they have two tokens, they spend one to evade, then after defense dice step, they will lose another focus/calc token (think Defenders.)

HEFF HEFF HEFF HEFF

Minimally, give him Intimidation and let him soften the he!! out of the target

That would be my go to build:

Dash Rendar — YT-2400 100
Trick Shot 1
Hotshot Gunner 7
Perceptive Copilot 10
Outrider 14
Ship Total: 132
Wedge Antilles — X-Wing 52
Lone Wolf 4
R2 Astromech 6
Shield Upgrade *
Servomotor S-foils (Closed) 0
Ship Total: 68

I feel dirty for even suggesting this, but...

Extra hull and an astro that lets you repair. Not a bad option. Dash really just needs a distraction so that he can F off around you. Biggs would help vs alpha strike lists that catch him early on.

Dash has Force, Lone Wolf and whatever he gets from Lando for dice mods. Miranda has 3 different pieces of ordinance she can infinitely ASLAM into reload for and if you set her arcs to the sides, all front range bands are covered by ordinance, not to mention bombs for people trying to be sneaky. It's not old Dash Miranda, but it's not bad.

Dash Rendar — YT-2400 100
Lone Wolf 4
Ezra Bridger 18
Lando Calrissian (Rebel) 5
Ship Total: 127
Miranda Doni — K-Wing 50
Proton Torpedoes 9
Cluster Missiles 5
Bomblet Generator 5
Advanced SLAM 3
Ship Total: 72

I say throw em for loop, Dash is his own Best Buddy

Outrider, Lone Wolf, Contraband, Luke Skywalker, Perceptive CoPilot, Stealth Device, Missile of choice!

GFI!

Sabine Wren in the attack shuttle might be fun alongside.

Around that point range, I'd reccomend a Fat U-Wing; preferably Benthic if you are able to fit him in. Benthic with Advanced Sensors, Jyn Erso, Perceptive Co-Pilot is around 65 points I believe, but he's worth every single one of them. He is like Luke, but more tanky and less zoomy; much cheaper cost too.

The new U-Wing is even more fitting because it can hang out in the debris field very easily with it's stops and 90°/180° rotations. And it's not bad on the offensive either, so it can actually chase and protect Dash for when they try to focus him down.

And it doesnt have to be Benthic; 99% of the time, I just end up taking the focus evade on him because it's just so **** good with 2 green dice + obstructions + range bonuses, so any of the U-Wing pilots would be good for that I suppose. Benthic's just good for that rare occasion where Dash is close to him and you think passing him an evade will help.

So yeah, U-Wings rock.

actually, yeah

Sensor, perceptive, jyn U-wings seem real nifty. Even in 1.0, Two-Tubes was holding his own with the same effective build (just Jan instead of Jyn, obv), although he was supporting a Norra worth a **** at the time

This is going to be where I start with Dash... Both ships throw 4 dice with mods, and Dash is there to help Luke get to the end game. Keeping Dash on the cheaper side means his wingmate can actually contribute and be a threat.

in this build we have option to Double Shot from dash and great Miranda. 1. Leave device sejsmiczne charges. 2. Find target to use torpedoes 3. Device explode and we can give bonus from sabine like tractor on little ship on rock or set outside arc etc. Attack from torpedoes and two time dash. Than miranda leave device and use beast mode: 2bank-2hard slam to reload/TargetLocki for next turn torpedoes again....
