Without weighing in on the issue of whether or not Prequel ships/factions "should" come to the table top, I humbly put forward this idea for doing so.

I would design the ships very similar to the one currently in release. The high dice and ranges would fit the era the ships are in and allow for just as pitched and vicious furballs as we currently get in the Civil War Era. I would also include a marker on the ships stat cards that indicates their "era." All (or almost all) upgrades would also have this era marker, and can only be attached to ships that have it as well.

Then, either on the flip side, or more preferably on a second ship card, I would have Civil War Retrofit versions of the Clone Wars Era ships. These would be "modern" versions of the ships, dusted off and retrofitted for use in the current war. The stats would be played way down, reflecting the advancements in weapons tech, but the ships should still serve a purpose; even if all that would be is to have a mid speed, paper tiger battle-wagon that has middle of the road damage dice (but lots and lots of them).

Any further "Eras" could also be marked with "Era markers" that would need to be there (or be absent) to attach specific upgrade cards (unless the card itself says otherwise).

Heck, if you wanted to be really fancy, you could make the faction markers removable so that you could flip them over to represent the era you are using the ship in.


Just some thoughts.

Understandable with Earth as a reference, but Star Wars tech has been plateaued for 1000 years.

Where applicable, such as the Acclamator or Venator I would have the 2 CW versions as normal then a 3rd ship card (or more) for the imperial version.

Tech isn’t that advanced by GCW so I’d just use the existing upgrade cards & keep it simple.

Not to mention, its only been 20 years between CW and GCW. Tech, especially military tech, barely advances in 100 years, let alone 20. There are countries in our modern world, who still use Lee-Enfield as a primary rifle system. Star Wars plateaued centuries ago, its all differing design concepts.
