I'm interested in playing a short league with custom commanders through vassal/tts, pitting two randomly assigned teams against one another. Ive written a preliminary set of rules and would like feedback, as well as help creating perks and an idea of who would be interested in playing.
Each player doing the league shall submit 2 different commander concepts, one for each faction. During and after submissions, other players will suggest changes to the wording or clarification on rules interactions.
After this phase is done, each player will submit a points recommendation for each commander that is not their own, as well as an optional veto. The median will be chosen for the point cost of each commander.
Each player will be randomly placed in either rebels or imperials unless one of their commanders have been eliminated. Commanders are eliminated when there median is too high or too low(a secret number), or enough people vote VETO. After fleets are formed, players decide among themselves who will communicate their strategic decisions to the GM
Every campaign round will have mostly 400 point battles, and 1 or more 500 and 300 point battles depending on the player turn out. The team will talk about their strategy, and then the team leaders will exchange turns placing their team members in slots, starting with the team leader on the currently winning team. Players do not have to have finalized lists until before they start the game. Once a team has gotten to a certain threshold of points it'll trigger a final battle/battles similar to CC, and then after that whoever has more points will win the campaign.
The campaign will be card based to represent taking opportunities and risks. Each player will have a set of a few cards that have a battlefield affect (for example, something similar to fire beacons, or adding extra asteroids) that will also have a point cost. Players decide after objective selection which card they will use. All cards in play are public knowledge and cannot be swapped between players
So, Tim and Sarah pick an objective. Tim decides to use a card worth two points, and Sarah decides to use a card worth -1 points. So if Tim wins, he will gain -3 to his final score, and if Sarah wins, she will gain +3 points to her final score. Each game is worth fleet points /25 by default. Whoever loses will draw two new cards, and pick one for themselves before giving the other to the winner.
So I need help making all of these cards even from people not playing the campaign, we can start with stuff like planetary ion cannon, targetting beacons, etc as default choices, and then once all ideas are tallied for, everyone who made an objective will vote on point cost for each objective that they didn't write. if the objectives median is over +5 or below -5, they will be eliminated from the final roster that I will randomize into a deck.
I'll be in charge of writing narrative each round, but the campaign should run itself mechanically. The basic narrative are rebellion/ new republic forces discovering an imperial remnant near the uncharted regions, and an imperial retreat which will basically go very orderly while dealing the New Republic a bloody nose to being a route depending on how well the empire does.
