scum Cloak 1.0

By ImperialOfficer, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Sorry for dumb question, but how does the cloaking device that came with the mist hunter work?

Take the action to perform the cloak, got that.

My question is the work "then", below. If you roll a focus decloak or discard your cloak token.

It sounded like a one time use, but I wasn't sure why the difference between decloak or discard your cloak token?

It is one time use, correct?

ยท Cloaking Device
Mist Hunter Expansion Pack

Small ship only.

Action: Perform a free cloak action.

At the end of each round, if you are cloaked, roll 1 attack die. On a result, discard this card, then decloak or discard your cloak token.

You cloak as an action, and until the end of the round, you stay cloaked. Which means you cannot shoot and get 2 green dice more.

At the end of the round (when all the shooting is done) if you are cloaked, you have to roll a die.

If you don't roll an eye result, nothing happens at this point. At the start of the next turns activation phase, you get to decide to decloak. If you do, perform barrel roll or boost with 2 straight template. If you can't, stay cloaked.

If you did roll an eye result at the end of the round while cloaked, you get to decide: either decloak (perform barrel roll or boost with 2 straight template) or discard cloak token (don't preform decloak movement). The upgrade card is discarded regardless of what your chose.

If your are lucky you can do the cloak as long as you want.

Technically, you have to move when you decloak because that's the way the rules are written. And it's possible for all your decloak spots to be blocked. This normally means you can't decloak just then. But FFG wanted to guarantee that you lose your cloaked status immediately if the device breaks, so they had to add the option of simply losing the token without it counting as "decloaking" in game terms.

Gotch ya, that makes since. I was curious of using Torkil, and leaving him cloaked, not worrying about shooting, just having them to ps0 an ace.

Cikatro Vizago is your man:

Swap the Cloak before it breaks for something else like Black Market Slicer Tools that will still give Torkil something to do while he stays cloaked (forever/until you decide to decloak) and can't shoot.

@ObiWonka , so you said swap it out before it breaks. So if round 1 you cloak, then at the end of that round swap it for BLMST.

Do you still have to do the end of round roll to decloak since the device is no longer attached?

The card doesn't exist any more, so you don't have to do anything on it. The cloak token carries all the cloak (+2 defense, no shooting) and decloak (discard it to do a 2-speed boost or roll) rules on its own, as long as you have it.

That's awesome, thank you.
