The only reason I can see FFG enforcing a correct model rule is yes the scalcon is unmistakably a yt1300 but say you are playing rebels and your opponent is scum. It might get a little confusing if you both are using the same model for 2 different ships. At that point on the board they would look identical aside from the baseplate if the nose is off. Rebel and resistance would have the same problem. Colored baseplates and number chits would fix this though.

As for only buying one faction, I figured that was a lie when they said it. It might be true for casual play or looking at a timeline through the lens of infinity but as far as playing competitively it’s going to be largely false.

Z95 - light spam

Arc170 - heavy gun platform

Actis - arc dodging ace beast

Y-Wing - more powerful than rebs version, turret

Guardian class light cruiser- large base support platform, bruiser

LAAG - doesnt make any sense in game, but people will complain if it isnt added

Thats my guess. Most popular ships, make the most sense in established roles

Yeah! Jess Pava, Integrated Astromech x2, Primed Thrusters, Pattern Analyzer x2, Rey Crew, Finn Crew, M9-G8 (Great with Snapshot which also comes in the box).

I have a spare rebel Falcon that I plan to paint yellow Mining Guild colors and fly as Scum. From my perspective, I'd see models as interchangeable....its all about the base.

There is more difference in the aft of the Customized YT13 than I originally spotted. But it still seem close enough with to the other versions of the YT13 with the Escape Craft disengaged that it should work in the other factions. Even accounting for the weapons and dish, as well.
