Scum Falcon and Conversion Kits

By Stinger07, in X-Wing

Okay, so here is a question. While I have a relatively substantial collection, I never bought a Millennium Falcon. But I have been eyeing the new scum falcon, and I hope to get it when it launchers

With that, will I be able to use the Scum Falcon, minus the escape pod, along with the rebel (and or resistance) conversion kit to field a Rebel (or resistance) Falcon? I am mainly talking for a tournament, but the question still stands.

Given I mainly play casually, the question is pretty much moot as it is, but I am still curious.

I think it should be alright. Without the escape craft docked, it looks pretty much like a repainted YT13. It’s also going into a Rebel list, so there should be no confusion about it being a Modified YT or a Customized YT.

Substantial collection and never picked up Heroes of the Resistance? Sir, I question your sanity.

I'm in the exact same boat. I already had 3 Falcons and 3 T70s, so I never picked it up either.

Completley different boat. This chap doesn't own *any* falcons.

So you bought 3 of the original falcons? I question YOUR sanity as well.

You're right. That is a different boat entirely. And having zero falcons is crazy! Having three wasn't really my fault. I bought the first just to have it, obviously. I bought the second to repaint/fly in a cheesy two falcon list. The third I got when my brother paid off some money he owed me in Xwing miniatures. So three isn't really that crazy!

Wish I could pay off student loans with xwing minis.

Just get your big brother pay off your student loans and then to be a sucker and except Xwings as legal tender!

Different boats maybe, but both sailing in the same sea of insanity. ;)

@Stinger07 as others have said, you shouldn’t have a problem using the Scum falcon in the other factions. FFG has previously ruled that things like scum Z-95s and Rebel z-95s are cross compatible, as are Y-wings, as are the Rebels and Resistance Falcons. So long as you have the right dials, cards, and cardboard base, and you’re not trying to confuse your opponent, you should be fine at any sort of official event.

Keep an eye on the tournament docs though, I suspect we’ll see an update sometime in the next month or two where FFG spells out clearly what is and isn’t allowed for cross faction components, since it’s about to become much more relavent for everybody.

Why is it crazy? I didn't pick up a copy until after 2e was announced and I wanted to complete my collection, and that's the first Falcon I bought. What came in it that was a must-have?

If I were the event judge, I’d say go for it. Without the escape craft on it there’s no reason you can’t use it as a rebel yt1300.

just use the rebel dial and the ship cards/cardboard from your conversion box and be good to go

Engine upgrade was the big one, for a long time it was the only source. Veteran instincts only came in it and the firespray for awhile too, at one time draw their fire was very useful and I believe it’s the only source for it still.

Well, if you flew rebels, Black One title and PS9 Poe. iirc for a few minutes, it was the only source of at least one upgrade, can't recall which one(s). Hotshot CoPilot and Rey crew if you ran her with Dash for banked focus. Slick black one paint scheme on the T70. Nien Numb wasn't a slouch either.

Ah, thanks. I don't think I ever played with any of those, so I wasn't too concerned with getting them. What does Draw Their Fire do?

Downvote! We're talking about Heroes of the Resistance, not original falcon.

SHAME!

Ah, in that case, it sounds like a lot of Large-base and high-PS support. Thanks!

Even with the escape craft on it, the ship is clearly the millennium falcon and you are clearly playing rebels. I don’t think that should cause confusion for an opponent.

I often TO events. I would say it's fine but as a disclaimer make the opponent aware before every game. Also as a TO, if I i was asked this in advance I'd bring a spare falcon for you if needed incase anyone made a complaint just to shut them up and get on with day.

My bad, in that case there was absolutely nothing memorable in it for me.

Haha, I never bothered picking one up because I gifted one to my brother a while back. Some of the extra cards we'd just trade back and forth, and I just let him keep his Falcon as exclusive to him. If I ever wanted to borrow it, I could.

But a substantial collection for me is like 35 ships? Is that substantial? It definitely has cost me as much money as a cheap gaming PC...

But good to know! I am already grabbing conversion kits, so it'll be fun to get 3 ships for the price of one.

35 is a small starter flotilla.

X-wing miniatures collections range in size from 'a few' to 'far too many' with brief pauses at 'some ships', 'enough for most lists, I suppose', 'I don't need any more right now', and 'they were a bargain, second hand'.

Mistakes are made.

Yes, I missed that one out. It seems to apply to almost all the stages of fleet-acquiring.

Why? I neither have any Falcon (not liking fat freighters being faster and more maneuvrable than military fighters, I refrain from buying most large bases, I mostly fly snubfighters), but quite substantial fleets of all 3 OT factions. I was never interested in mixing timelines, so I never got ST stuff apart from 2 Quadjumpers. No Poe or Rey flying with rebels.

I also was all the time fully expecting a faction split - which serves me fine*) now, as I do not have to pay for 2 more conversion kits.

*) mostly: FFG still has not explained how the .... one is supposed to get the Tech cards for a Quadjumper, if you are Scum only, or multifaction but not playing ST timeline factions, so much for "you need not to buy crossfaction"...cause I seriously doubt that you get lots of Tech cards with the 2.0 rerelease of the Quad!

Then I would not call your collection "substantial". I would call it "selective".
