It was excluded in the first canonicity announcement.
What about the Ewok movies? They keep those? Big fan of Teek.

No, I would have had words if “Caravan of Courage” made it...
Specifically, the first step of canonicity was, essentially:
1. The 6 Theatrical releases (Eps I-VI)
2. The Clone Wars TV movie
3. The Clone Wars TV series
4. Star Wars “Rebels”
5. All new movie, comic and book releases as of April 14, 2014, unless explicitly marketed under “legends”.
Computer and Other Game systems are kind of murky - their contents and such are often viewed as an acknowledgement of canonicity, but storylines are NOT unless they are released as a different source (as with Battlefront, standard games played with player decisions are not canon, but the overarching storylinecas presented in the supplementary stories and supported is...)
Apparently Rebels was originally going to have the Ghost crew steal the Death Star plans and then Rogue One got pitched.
Thank god. Rogue One is like the Anti Rebels view of pre-ANH.
I don't hate Rebels. I think it has some of the coolest scenes in Star Wars and manages to create some really fantastic characters and provide an epic view of the force that's not ridiculous like the Force Unleashed.
I just really hate how Filoni spays and neuters villains. He destroyed Grievous in the Clone Wars and can't even let Thrawn have a major victory in Rebels.
To me Revenge of the Sith thematically set up this bleakness in the Empire's absolute dominance that Rogue One carried but Rebels entirely abandoned.
So I'm cautious about this Resistance show. If we have goofball doofus stormtroopers and tie fighter pilots I'm out.

(I feel like this answer is almost close to thread Necro but whatever, here it goes :D)
Yeah I read Thrawn but while I found the character enjoyable as always he is just there without rhyme or reason. I never really liked the "dangerous enemy" plot that was the justification for his existence, I liked it when he was kicking *** and taking names of the New Republic. I mean in the old EU I could see where it was going, even though it was hardly compelling imho, but now? I am rather confused and not convinced its going somewhere meaningful.
Lost Stars was very good till the point where we get to the after Endor part that is just glossed over and bam Jakku, not that I fault the author, I think its the best book I read from the new canon. But it underlines the point that the old canon was nuked (which I have no problem with) just to give us a new canon which no one thought through so that I could get movies which no one thought through either.
I think I only really like Rogue One and no other new SW content because it feels like the only addition that actually fits, that actually connects to the original trilogy in any meaningful way.
But I guess I am too old, and too grumpy. I am pleased that a lot of people like the new stuff better than me and I don't want to take away from that. And I hope this new series gives me something to like, despite my doubts. Because I really want to like this more. Star Wars is still my first nerd love story and it will always be that.

So, you don’t like the fact he’s just there without rhyme or reason, and preferred it when instead he was just there without rhyme reason or justification, as long as he was kicking *** ? ?

I feel like he had at least meaning as an antagonist for the heroes. Here I feel he is just there. And yes, the rule of cool is a thing
