Help with Sloane List, please.

By RayCidivist, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

My Collection: 2Core sets, 1 VSD, 1Imperial Squadron I, 1 Imperial Squad II, 2x Rebel Squadron, 1 Gladiatot, 1 CR 90, 1 Assault Frigate, 1 Neb Frigate, Rogues & Villains, 2 ISDs, 1 MC 30, 1 Gozanti, 1 Interdictor, 1 Quasar.

The List: ISD 1, Sloane, Avenger, Leading Shots, Point Defense Reroute, Gunnery Team.

Quasar I, Stronghold, Expanded Hangar Bay, Boosted Comms

Raider I Ordinance Experts

Colonel Jendon, Marek Steele, Major Rhymer, TIE Bomber, Howlrunner, TIEx4.

Suggestions?

I've run a similar Sloane ISD + Quasar for the last couple of competitive seasons to pretty good success. You're on the right path, generally, but I'd suggest the following:

ISD: I would look at an ISD2, as the defensive retrofit will help her stay alive and the greater threat range means we can be little less... precise when manoeuvring. I'd definitely drop the Point Defense Reroute; if we need the ISD's flak to do damage, something's probably gone horribly wrong, so those points could be better spent as an officer -- maybe Yularen? I'd also consider Boarding Troopers over Gunnery Teams; with Avenger it means anything coming into close range is likely dead, but on an ISD2 that's probably a personal preference choice.

Quasar: I'd definitely try to find room for a Flight Commander and Flight Controllers. The former opens a lot of options in deploying and moving both the fighters and the Quasar, while the Controllers make sure our fighters hit as hard as possible so we can break the enemy wing and move on to their ships ASAP.

Raider: I'd probably drop this guy back to a Comms Net Gozanti. He's probably not going to survive contact with the enemy, anyway, so it doesn't really increase our risk of tabling, and we can throw the saved points into the other 2 ships. A Comms Gozanti would give greater command flexibility to the other two ships and can devote itself to pushing squads, letting us move 7 without a token or the ISD helping out.

Fighters: The only change I'd suggest here is to upgrade one TIE Fighter to Mauler Mithel and another to a Jumpmaster, dropping the Bomber if necessary. Mauler furthers the goal of breaking enemy squads as fast as possible, and can withstand flak better, giving you greater threat range. The Jumpy, meanwhile, provides a vital source of Intel and still benefits from Howlie and Stronghold.

In case you didn't know.....lets you put your collection in so at least you know what you can use....

I agree w/ the upgrade from ISD I to II...tried to double check and make sure you should have all these upgrades:

Faction: Imperial
Commander: Admiral Sloane

Imperial II (120)
• Admiral Sloane (24)
• Wulff Yularen (7)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• Avenger (5)
= 174 Points

Quasar Fire I (54)
• Flight Commander (3)
• Flight Controllers (6)
• Boosted Comms (4)
• Expanded Hangar Bay (5)
= 72 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Comms Net (2)
= 25 Points

Squadrons:
• Colonel Jendon (20)
• Maarek Stele (21)
• Howlrunner (16)
• Dengar (20)
• Mauler Mithel (15)
• Soontir Fel (18)
• 2 x TIE Fighter Squadron (16)
= 126 Points

Total Points: 397

Stronghold means you'd be flying your quasar into the fight, and it doesn't want that. I like the idea with Rhymer, so you could change out Soontir here for him and be good, but the second bomber is an unnecessary redundancy that doesn't gain from Sloane. If you want to spend more points, Pursuant on the quasar wouldn be helpful, but with just three ships a little bid isn't a bad thing to have. Conversely if you want a bigger bid Wulff isn't needed on the ISD. Hope this helps!

I''ll find out Friday!

Take this list, cut out Wulff and flight commander, and max our your squads to 134. If you have Correllian Conflict adding Valen and Saber are good calls (nixing some ties).
