Don't order anything from Miniature Market.

By Ken on Cape, in Star Wars: Legion

Just thought I would note that my preorder for han and commandos shipped from MM today so.. maybe things are on the upside.

That’s good news

My Han and two commandos showed up early on the 24th. I ordered my cores and first expansions from them, and they showed up in a similar timeframe. I had one other order from them back when I bought a case of D&D minis on preorder. All have gone smoothly and I’ve received my product in what I would consider an excellent timeframe, considering I always opt for the cheapest shipping.

I hope that azavander had the same luck with his order.

I think you need to be a bit careful trying to blacklist a company, I’ve always found them good to deal with and that’s as an international customer. No problems whatsoever.

@Ken on Cape You should change the title.

I buy my Legion stuff from my FLGS, but I've had nothing but positive dealings with Miniature Market. Fwiw, their free shipping has sometimes been painfully slow (especially for orders I'm excited about), however, of late I've noticed preorders arriving in a very timely fashion and quicker turnarounds on my other orders.

MM free shipping is painfully slow, but that is FedEx setting on packages. It really isn't MM fault.

Generally speaking, I really like miniature market.

I have issues with preorders for FFG products from any source. I really do feel the frustration in this thread - because FFG products can be hard to find when "released," regardless of your decision to preorder. My friends and I were close to throwing up our hands early on after Arkham Horror's release. We all fell off of the Destiny train in the first cycle just because we couldn't find product locally, and then no one ended up getting back on. Aren't rebel troopers just now available from MM? When there is a long pattern, this kind of stuff should fall on FFG, not retailers.

It just happens so many times with so many of their product lines. You get lucky with your preorder or you end up waiting a while, so I hesitate to blame any retailer over FFG product availability at launch. I made the choice to cut down to two expandable FFG games that I'm willing to purchase - so even though FFG is likely to continue under producing new releases, I have far less potential frustration! ?

Personally I've never had issues with pre-orders from my FLGS, but that's partially because A) I place a pre-order as soon as I see an announcement about certain product (such as Legion releases and some board games), and B) they tend to get enough stock for all of their pre-orders, plus a bit extra for the shelves.

Remember that FFG doesn't (typically) deal directly with retailers, there is a distributor sitting in the middle, so it's difficult for us laypeople to trace the supply "issues" back to either FFG or the distributors. After all, I've been seeing listing on Amazon for Fleet Troopers at or below MSRP this whole time (with two day shipping), so SOMEBODY had stock. I still agree that the specific retailer isn't necessarily to blame, if the distributor isn't ordering enough product, or chooses to send more to a different retailer, there's not a lot the retailer can do about it as far as I'm aware.

FFG always wants to sell through whatever they make, so they don't make much. Setting on inventory isn't something any business wants to do. This is a known behavior by anyone in the business. MM big sin on preorders is they take peoples money up front and then set on it indefinitely. There are actual regulations against doing this. Charging when shipped solves all those problems and if they aren't big enough to do that, then just notify people when it is in stock.

It can not be said enough .. .support your FLGS.
