2e) The Siblings and the Sith

By Jo Jo, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was trying to figure out how I could get as many Imperial force crew members in a list since they have the most of those. I did it more jokingly, but the squad I came up with actually looks good on paper:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (88)
Trick Shot (1)
Emperor Palpatine (13)
Fifth Brother (12)
Shield Upgrade (*)

Major Vermeil (49)
Predator (2)
Seventh Sister (12)
Darth Vader (14)
Shield Upgrade (*)

Total: 198

You initially have 4 total force points to spend. Both ships should hit fairly hard with the inactive dice mods and Vader helping Vermeil strip tokens or just push damage through. RAC just dives in there and tanks shots while Vermeil cover the rear. Both can coordinate each other in a pinch if needed as well. I dunno, could be fun.

My big concern is RAC not having ways to deal with blank results. Vermeil does. Idek if he needs Predator, I'd rather go Elusive!

That being said, I don't know where to provide the locks, so it seems to be as good as possible atm.

The more I think about Predator, the less I like it. Bullseye arc turns-on-target are going to be a lot more rare, and so I kinda want to just front-load that damage with Crack Shot. If I only get like 2 or 3 rounds of Bullseye a game, there's a reasonable chance Predator doesn't pay for its increased cost over Crack Shot. Unless with something like Wedge who already deletes defense dice, or Soontir who might have the repositioning necessary to get frequent Bullseyes, I think I probably just want Crack Shot.

That said, Elusive looks good.

In general, I like the look of the list in general.

I guess another thing to consider is Grand Inquisitor vs Seventh Sister. Sev is hard to predict, IMHO. It might be really strong to tractor or jam someone instead of stressing them, but I have no idea. Of course, if you can tractor someone onto a rock, that's immense. I was at first thinking Jam wouldn't be good. However, swapping that stress for a Jam helps activate both Vader and Vermiel. Grand Inquisitor, on the other hand, shuts off Ailerons, which is probably bad. On another ship which doesn't mind dialing in green moves, no so bad, but it doesn't look great on a Reaper in particular. So Sev really seems better than Inqy, now that I think about it.

I agree. I'm not sure how good Predator will be, but its almost like a throw in since I had some points. You will get way more bulleye arcs against large base ships and swarmy type lists. So it is something to consider. Its not like its 2 more points than crackshot now. In 1.0 terms of points its only a 0.5 point more in 2E. Elusive might be the ticket on the Reaper with its worse dial in 2.0. There are plenty of red maneuvers to recharge it.

Yeah, I kind of look at 7th Sister as a K-turn deterrent. Your opponent will try and avoid doing a K-turn in the range 1 bubble of Vermeil for fear of getting a tractor beam token thrown on them. I think you pretty much always want to tractor small base ships if you can throw them into a bad position. Against medium base or large, maybe the jam token is a better option if they have a TL to delete.

Given that Vader can ping a damage if the defender doesn't have a focus, and that Vermiel gets his bonus hit, if someone did something like a linked focus/barrel roll (say, a Fang Fighter on the approach), you knock off both the focus and stress, and while they'll have a clean dial, that's an extra damage from Vader and Vermiel has his dice. Probably still a good trade.
