Hi. I'd like to make Space Doc Holiday. As a Human, I'd use my 2 free non-career skill advances for Medicine. How best should I spend my 110 XP between Attributes, Skills, and Gunslinger Talent edges.
Best Combination of Attributes, Edges, and Skills for Starting Gunslinger
We just wrapped up a campaign earlier this year where I was running a Gunslinger. By the end, we were close to 400xp, so I played it out quite a ways.
Agility and Willpower are probably the most important attributes; Agility (along with Ranged-Light) for shooting and Willpower for high starting Strain Threshold (this specialization eats strain) and skills, primarily Vigilance for winning initiative (very important) and Discipline (less important, but helpful for strain recovery).
Ranged-Light and Vigilance are your bread and butter skills, while Cool and Discipline are also helpful.
For a human, I would go with a 4 Agility and 3 Willpower to start. After that, ranks in the listed skills or any of the Gunslinger's early talents are good choices, particularly Quick Draw. I think the human's two free ranks have to be different skills, so you'll only get one rank of Medicine that way.
Edited by Dr LuckyAs a human you get one rank in two different non-career skills. So using them both for Medicine rank 2 is not possible. (As Dr Lucky says.)
Talk to your GM, perhaps he will make an exception for you, if not you can buy the second rank for 15 XP.
I would say go with the standard recommendation and put as many xp into attributes as possible. It takes much more time and XP to raise them later on.
Focus on Agility.
