Garden Standoff - 2v2 HOTE skirmish map question

By flegma, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

The mission says:

”End of each round: Each player gains 2 VPs for each tactical position he controls. Than, if a player controls more than one tactical position of the same color, he gains VPs equal to the number of tactical positions of that color that he controls.”

My questin is: do we count every players control of the tactical positions separate (exactly like the card says), or can 2 teammates control all green tactical positions for ex. and count them togaher (as a team) [ex. My teammate controls 2 green, I control one, so we both count the points in a manner like we’re one player = 9 points]. It gets me confused, as in free for all 4 player mission it sounds all fine, but the team thingy makes me think that we can both take control of the tactical positions, and count the points as a team togather.

How does it work? Everyone counts their own VPs from control, and add them up to the team VPs (as written), or can a team team up for points and control (since all my teammates figures are friendly to me)

Hope you get what I mean.

Will play our first 2v2 game soon..

Thx.

I feel like in 2v2 you should be able to score individually and add it up.

Yes, you count them up together because having control of something is defined as having 1 more friendly figures on or adjacent to that thing, and your teammate's figures are friendly figures. So if you have figures on 2 green tactical positions and your teammate has a figure on a 3rd green tactical position, your team will score 2+2+2+3 VPs, 9 total.

There is a problem here though that I think may be a rules oversight. Players score as individuals, but count their teammate's figures for purposes of control based on the definition in the RRG for Control. So technically, if I have a figure on a tactical position, then both I and my teammate control that tactical position, and we should both score 2 points for a total of 4, but that doesn't seem right. I'm guessing they meant each team instead of each player. Maybe @a1bert can help.

Unfortunately I don't have any insight on this.

4-player skirmish is quite a strange beast, especially the team mode.

Looking at the other 2v2 mission on Nal Hutta Borderlands, that has players gaining points as a single team for objectives they control rather than each player individually, so I’m guessing this was a wording oversight and points should be gained once as a team, not once for each player.

I submitted a ruling request through FFG’s official rulings page:

How is objective scoring handled on Garden Stand-off on the 2v2 map temple gardens? It has each player individually gaining points for each objective he controls, but according to the rules Control includes all friendly figures which would mean each player is individually both gaining points for each objective they and their teammate control, resulting in double points gained for each objective a team controls. In contrast, on Nal Hutta Borderlands, each team gains points for each objective they control as a team instead of individually.

Thank you.

At Gencon, the FFG folk admitted that 2v2 or 4-player needed some love at some point. So, I imagine the more it gets played (we have a 2v2 tournament in our area next month), the more weird stuff is going to come up. Some did this past weekend, but we got some answers on the spot. So I like tvboy's idea of contacting FFG. They want to tune this game up.

Here's the answer I got:

Hi Noa,

This almost certainly should have been written as a team effect, but the final wording on the card is pretty clear. The objectives in the 2v2 team battle are effectively double those from the free-for-all.
Thanks for the question!

Sounds like it is supposed to be played RAW for now, each team earns 4 VPs for each friendly figure standing on an objective, and 2(x) additional vps where x is the number of each objective of the same color that a team controls.
