Pressure point timing question

By damnkid3, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

With the new spec interrogator have pressure points talent, I have a question on the timing of when it works.

Does it make all damage from the attack plus from the talent unsoakable and deal damage as strain?

Or does it change the damage remaining after soak, in to strain and then adds the additional strain from the talent.

Sorry if this has been clarified in an errata, I just re-read the talent and it sounds it could go either way. I assume option 2 that I have listed.

  • All damage is Stun Damage.
  • All damage ignores Soak.
  • Yes, this even ignores Cortosis-backed protection.

This talent is highly broken when taken by a dedicated Brawl fighter. Look up "Dr. Velociraptor" and other assorted threads for examples. Many house rules have been applied.

The talent really is kinda vague on it from the text. But my understanding is that it's option 1, so it deals all of that damage as unsoakable strain. Which is why Maurauder Doctors can be the deadliest sons of female dogs in the galaxy. They don't need anesthesia, their hands can put down a rancor with a light tap.

Option 1.

It's broke as F. I just have it add Stun X = Medicine ranks to bare hand Brawl attacks.

I use the same house rule.

It makes it still really good for a Dr PC, but losing the all damage-no Soak thingy lessens the appeal to munchkin Marauders.

I thank (insert focus of belief system here) every day that I dont have any munchkins in my group

Realms of Terrinoth also offers a considerably different Pressure Point talent which I will be using in the future if I ever need too.

What is it for realms of Terrinoth?

When making an unarmed Brawl combat check to deal strain damage to a living opponent, increase damage by the character's ranks in Medicine.

No ignoring soak about it.

I think I remember a force leap stealth build that takes brutal advantage of this talent. Its quite possibly the most breakable talent in the game now that supreme armor spec counters a disruptor/lethal blows build and obscene soak can counter autofire.
