My 3BJD Build

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

So I'm of the impression that our glorious GUNBOATS will be better in 2.0 than they were in 1.0, thanks in no small part to no TLT, less turrets abuse, more advantageous point costing, and ordinance that doesn't have to be reloaded after a single use.

But, no QuickDraw. So, I made a list that I think is good, and I'm excited to have Mrs. Rick fly it because she is the 3BQD person in our house. I have replaced Quickdraw with Colonel Jendon, hence QD has become JD.

Nu Squadron Pilot — Alpha-Class Star Wing 35

Fire-Control System 3

Proton Torpedoes 9

Advanced SLAM 3

Os-1 Arsenal Loadout 0

Ship Total: 50

Homing Missiles 3

Ion Missiles 4

Colonel Jendon — Lambda-Class Shuttle 46

Jamming Beam 2

ISB Slicer 3

Ship Total: 51

Jenon's ability gives the boats LRS, and he can be a major pain in the butt with persistent jams and help to keep the boats alive longer hopefully. The boats can now SLAM + Lock or Focus and then fire. With FCS they get a nice re-roll option so they can save the lock for the next turn.

One of the boats gives a little control with the Ion Missiles and leverages the cheap option of Homing Missiles as well. This squad is 199 points.

So, is it good?

I like this list, my only question is whether or not you can keep enemies in arc.

For your son, how about something like this:

Boba Fett (80)

Lando Calrissian (Scum) (49)

Palob Godalhi (38)

Total: 167

It's not fleshed out, but it's a start.

A lot of hull, turrets, and Lando seems very forgiving with his re-rolls.

Thanks! I split the question off about my son onto another thread, but I really appreciate the answer and that looks like a great list for him.

As far as keeping ships in arc, I think if a person was good at 3BQD then they'll be good with this list because the challenge is still the same only less abusive stuff on the other side of the table.

Did you go to Gen Con & pick up the new edition? Or are you guys are getting prepared for when it comes in Sept.?

Preparing ahead of time. I have the core and all three conversion kits coming in, I still need to add Lando's Falcon to my MM order.

I'm a little unsure of the loadout on Jendon. I might rather go Tractor Beam on Jendon, and 3x Proton Torpedos on the Gunboats. If I really wanted control, I think I'd go with an Ion Cannon gunboat, over Ion Missile. Only one more point for unlimited charges, and no range 1 gap.

You could fit in both. 200 points for 2x Proton Torpedo Boats, 1 Ion Cannon boat, with let's say Cluster Missiles instead of Homing, and a Tractor Beam Jendon.

I think you're on to something, @theBitterFig

I played around with a Jendon/Vessery list. Jendon has a powerhouse ability. Don't be afraid to move and and reinforce with him to take attention away from your boats. All of your boats look to have some self-reliance with the advanced SLAM added to them. I like it.

However, theBitterFig has a point, Proton Torps all the way.

Also, it only costs 2 points to go from Nu to Rho. This could give you an edge vs swarm lists. Later game you wouldn't need Jendon's ability.
