Laser Barriers?

By Brainbilly, in Game Masters

I'm planning to run an encounter tonight for my players and came up against a question that will help if I know before hand and that the antagonist may use against the players.

That question is...

Are the laser barriers (Same sort of thing as you see in The Phantom Menace in the Darth Maul battle with Qui-gon and Obi-wan) airproof? I.E if the antagonist sucked the air out of the room, would these barriers block off new air getting in or would they be air tight?

I have no idea about laser tech and suspect that one of my players may make an educated guess, but I don't want to spoil anything before hand for him by asking him.

Replies are very much appreciated!

Those are ray shields . As far as I know there has been no mention that they are impermeable to gasses (such as oxygen).

Thank you! That clears that up then. :)

Typically what's attributed to keeping atmo in is "magnetic fields." That's what you see in the movies for hanger bays on spaceships and station.

In Rebels they also show a glowy blue force field of some kind that can also keep atmo in while allowing denser matter to pass through. Don't think it's ever been seriously IDed as to what that is.

All that said, it's sci-fi, the laser barrier force field things do whatever the GM says they need to do in this encounter.

I think this sums it up best!

Yes, the answer is, "If you need them to hold atmosphere, they can."

My laser barriers are, can't squeeze an Ewok fart through my laser barriers. Can't speak for other people's cheap knock off laser barriers........
