okay, yeah, we're a few weeks away, but playing around with YASB 2.0 (fantastic work, BTW) I came up with a slight hitch in Jake. It states that after performing a barrel roll, he gives a focus to any friendly ship at range 0-1 a Focus. That's great and all, but what if he's equipped with Daredevil and does a red hard 1 for his boost? Does he still get that focus AND the stress or does the new stress negate the focus?
Question about Jake Farrel 2.0
QuoteAfter you perform a [barrel roll] or [boost] action, you may choose a friendly ship at range 0-1. That ship may perform a [focus] action.
QuoteWhile you perform a white [boost] action, you may treat it as red to use the [1 Left turn ] or [1 Right turn ] template instead.
Yep, it looks like the stress would shut Jake’s ability down. The red boost gives you a stress, Jake’s ability provides a free focus action not token, and it doesn’t trigger until after the boost action, by which point you’re already stressed.
It would shut his ability down *for himself* but it works on other friendlies as well...

That distinction is gonna bite me in the butt during actual play many, many times before I remember the two are distinctly different. Okay, good to know the stress shuts down his ability.
Thanks guys!

Again, it shuts his ability down on HIMSELF, but he can still let another friendly at rng 1 perform a focus action. He's an instructor after all, he keeps his fellow pilots focused.
There is a Jake Farrel example in the Appendix of the Rules Reference that clarifies how resolving multiple triggers that occur in the same timing window functions.
(see page 19)
But to answer your question, no, after performing a red boost, Jake would receive his stress token before the timing for his "perform a focus action" ability would occur. He would then be stressed and unable to trigger the ability on himself.
Also note that since it's a Focus Action , he cannot pass it to anyone who has already taken a Focus Action this turn (including himself). It's much harder to stack multiple tokens in 2.0, which is obviously by design, and likely a huge improvement.
