I hate Reapers.

By schattenlord, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey there!

So in about 2 weeks I will go to a Tournament and I'm not quite sure what list to bring. I would love to play Norra/Miranda/Ap15 but recently I encountered some difficulties. Namely Tie Reapers. I really do not like them. They steal my tokens and then everything falls apart because I'm not able to put out enough damage. So I thought about some lists and here are my "I really don't care" lists. They're designed to laugh at stressboats, Fenn and Raepers by not depending on actions in order to do some damage.

The first thing that came to my mind ist something like this:

Crimson Leader

- Trajectory Simulator

- Ordnance Silos

- Proton Bombs

- Deflective Plating

Crimson Specialist

- Accuracy Corrector

- Proton Bombs

- Ordnance Silos

- Deflective Plating

Fenn

- Wired

- Sabine Wren

- Multi-spectral Camouflage

And heres the alternative:

Crimson Specialist

- Accuracy Corrector

- Proton Bombs

- Ordnance Silos

- Deflective Plating

Crimson Squadron Pilot

- Ordnance Silos

- Deflective Plating

- Trajectory Simulator

- Seismic Charges

Crimson Squadron Pilot

- Ordnance Silos

- Deflective Plating

- Trajectory Simulator

- Seismic Charges

Okay, so what are your thoughts? Which one should I take?

2nd one. LOADS of damage output. Fenn can't compare

Trajectory Simulator is unique....

Oh crap, sorry. Was thinking it's erstwhile partner Bomb Gen... I only ever use one TS :D

Fenn is only in there to carry Sabine. Then it would be two faceup damage cards from the proton bombs, one hit from Sabine and one crit because of the condition. Thats some serious pain just from bombs.

In addition fenn can help the bombers stay alive through the dice modificaton denial.

I don't think 1 extra sabine damage can compare to an entire other B-SF of bombs and HP

Yeah, but in order to fit another bomber in there I have to take seismic charges. But you're right. I tested it out and 3 Bombers do better. I would even say its necessary to make sure your foes can't escape the bombs.

Agreed. When you're using lower PS bombers, you need to be able to pattern-drop a salvo of the things to reliably land a hit against boost/barrel rolling opponents, especially since you lack the firepower to capitalise on a lack of tokens if they just take repositioning actions.

Rattled does not combo with Sabine or Proton Bombs. PRoton Bombs do not cause the target to suffer damage, they cause them to be dealt a card, and Sabine is not a bomb.

Oh okay. Thank you!

If you're hating anti-token ships and want to have nearly auto-win games against them, quad TLT Y-wings should do the trick. Just spam them and win through attrition. Low PS bombs are the wrong way to go against Reaper Aces, they're absurdly manoeuvrable and tanky enough to laugh at even Proton Bombs with Sabine.

4-5 X-wings gives the same level of punch. A Classic TIE swarm will win in a few rounds, but lose to many other things.

Quadjumpers also really mess with Reapers. They typically move first, and AAs can take plenty of damage from plowing through rocks. AGI 1 ships without LWF will die to anything given a few turns, and quadjumpers are cheap enough to pair with two strong ships.

Thank you! I agree that there are a countless better ways to defeat Reapers and you mentioned some really good ones. The only problem is that I don't have better options because of my limeted ship arsenal. I don't want to spend more money and for some reason it happens to be the case that I owe three bombers. So they're my best bet at the moment.

My favorite current build I've made to counter Reapers is Wulffwarro with Rey, Ezra crew, Push the Limit and Vectored Thrusters. Reapers cant strip Reinforce tokens, and even if they strip a focus you still get the auto mod from ezra if you push (and rey is rey).

Currently I've got him running with Wes Janson with R2D2, Predator, Integrated and S Foils, and a blocker U-Wing. Janson lets you strip tokens of you own and you get two re-rolls against the stupid PS 1.

As for your list, Bombers are always good, and if you want to run one for cheap taking it with nothing but Accuracy Corrector is an amazing hard counter to reapers if you don't want an X or U wing for the same price (even without bombs).

Best,
