Yet Another SSD List

By Tristol, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So basically the first bit of news on Armada for a long time has sparked the imagination. How do you fit this new monstrosity into a 400 pts list. My take so far is:

SSD First Attempt (398/400)

Star Dreadnought Command Prototype (220 + 55)

  • Moff Jerjerrod 23
  • Minister Tua 2
  • Damage Control Officer 5
  • Weapons Liaison 3
  • Gunnery Team 7
  • Leading Shots 4
  • Quad Battery Turrets 5
  • Advanced Projectors 6

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 2)

  • Comms Net 2

Squadrons (98)

  • Dengar 20
  • Soontir Fel 18
  • Ciena Ree 17
  • Howlrunner 15
  • Zertik Strom 15
  • Valen Rudor 13

Objectives:

  1. Blokade Run
  2. Contested Outpost
  3. Dangerous Territory

This list uses a lot of upgrades I haven't really seen around for a while, and likewise objectives. The thinking behind the SSD is to have Jerry to make able to move whenever needed, AP because of the number of hullzones you can distribute damage to, DCO because otherwise double Contains isn't really worth it, Weapons Liaison as a safeguard against Slicer Tools and Cham Syndulla shenanigans, Gunnery Teams because otherwise you'll never get to utilise all of your three attacks properly on this thing, LS and QBT is self-explanatory I think.

The Gozanti has been chosen to boost the activation count just a tad, as I'm not comfortable with only having two activations. Comms Net is because it's going to be a dedicated support ship, traveling in the shadow of the SSD with no other tasks other than supplying the Flagship with the token it needs at that moment. I have been thinking about scrapping the Comms Net and giving it Repair Crews instead, as it's very easy to maintain a distance of 1-2 to a base this large and slowmoving as the SSD.

The Squadrons have been chosen strictly as fighters and no bombers because the only thing I'm slightly worried about is the SSD being swarmed by a bunch of bombers. So basically the fighter screen is there to prevent that from happening. The great thing about the SSD is that it's both a Battleship and a Carrier, so why not try and utilise both?

The Objectives are a bit out of the ordinary, from what I usually run at least. Blockade Run has been chosen because you get to play lenght-wise on the board, which doesn't invite to a lot of maneuvers, which the SSD like. Plus you get to place all of the obstacles as second player. Again a thing this Huge based ship likes. Contested Outpost has been chosen because it funnels the fight around a single point on the board, which again seems to play into the SSD's strengths. The last objective is Dangerous Territory due to the fact that obstacles doesn't damage the second players ships, and I'm fairly certain with a base the size of a barn door, you're gonna hit the odd obstacle in normal gameplay.
