Clone Wars Factions, or just Ships?

By Piratical Moustache, in Star Wars: Armada

I thought it was an interesting moment when Armada was not listed alongside Legion and X-Wing for Clone Wars factions, but I wonder if that means that Rebels will salvage/repurpose CIS ships, and the Imperials will be using older Republic ships.

We already have some Clone Wars ships like the Arquitens and Pelta, what's more likely to happen?

I personally don't think the CIS doesn't have enough combat ships for Armada. What small ships did they have?

Hardcell, Diamond Class, heck maybe even Trident class. That’s just the first that came to my mind.

Gozanti’s have also been seen as part of CIS fleets, and even the Munificent could be considered a small.

Besides I don’t see where you are going with this. The Empire only has three small ships right now plus one flotilla. I just listed that and more for the CIS.

Oh and the Umbaran Supply Ship would qualify as a small for CIS as well.

C-9979 landing craft.

I think they've got plenty to work with.

And with a new season of Clone Wars we could be getting a lot more too. Take the Core Ship part of the Lucrehulk for example. It can already be used without the outer ring portion. No reason why it couldn't have a lot more possible configurations to go along with it.

So you guys seem to believe that the CIS and Republic are coming to Armada, judging by your comments.

The follow up question is who else wants the Rebel One?

It should be fractions. I play rebel only and I would like to have the Separist fraction to be able to play with a evil fraction.

Evil? That depends very much on your point of view.

It would be nice to have the ships- a lot of them follow the aesthetics of the rebel ships without having to be from Mon Cal.

Seperate Factions definately. Jesus who really likes this stupid mashup of completely different wars and timelines? Lets see how they do it with X-Wing and Legion but im 99% sure that they will be different factions. As they should.

ICS have plenty of ships. The Republic is what lacks ships that weren't released already.

I think seperate factons would divide the game a bit more than needed, right now. Id say let them launch a few waves of pure-clone wars ships, Venator, Providence, Lucrehulk, ect. for the sides. There is, in current cannon, reasonable ideas for those various ships to exist in the GCW timeline.

Then, once those are out, allow seperate factions to spawn from them. Republic can have Arquitens, Peltas, Acclamator, Venators, ect. And the CIS can have their ships... but then you also have the left over salvaged and surplus ships for the other two factions.

This way there is more variety in Rebels/Empire, and you would only need conversion kits for Republic/CIS. Even then, you could be like me, where I already paint my fleet like its a republic fleet.... so.... its all based on how you want to build your fleet.

Yes. It was during the inflight brief.

Well they can always use for example naboo's ships and so on.

Part of why I'd rather see a new faction of CIS released for the GCW instead of retreading old ****. Clone troops ARE storm troopers, it just feels really redundant. Split the remaining ships between triangles and not triangles, create the CIS, and introduce the vong.

Why can’t we have it both ways?

Release the CIS and Republic ships initially as units for the Rebellion and the Empire (like the Arquitens and Pelta). Follow this up with a Clone Wars campaign box with new cardboard and galactic map very similar to what was done with the Corellian Conflict.

We get the best of both worlds and everyone is happy!

Because CIS ships were rarepy used by the Rebellion. Most were rounded up and destroyed. The few rare exceptions don't worth making a whole expansion on them. They certainly didn't get any droid control ships, the Empire made certain to scrap those first. After all it would have been relly stupid to allow ships lingering around with similar firepower of an ISD.

Well, the Empire did exactly that. Because the Lucrehulk is the only standard Separatist capital ship the Rebels used canonically. (There was also a cobbled-together hybrid of several Separatist craft.)

The Rebbellion had at least one Droid controll ship and used it on the first attack on the Death Star.
