I noticed that you run V. Goblet on Ravos, how much did they come into effect for you at Gen Con?

My experience at the moment just leads me to feel like it's 7 points for 1 extra wound.

Honestly. Its probably the first card I’m going to pull if I modify this list. In most games it was a single wound. In a few it wasn’t even a wound.

Against TGall in the finals, it recovered 2 wounds. This did keep him alive to kill the last few trays of Berserkers to win the game before a thresher killed him.

It’s hard to say that was worth it though as I also wouldn’t have left him near TGall’s Ravos if he wasn’t healing. For clarification, we had a few turns where both his and my Ravos were near each other and killed other stuff but never attacked the opposing Ravos. A lot of wounds on both sides came from that.

****. As I answer questions, I already found 2 moments of suboptimal play (on my end) in my match against TGall. Those would have changed the score by 71 points as one was turn 7 and one was turn 8. Well, that’s what you get on game 6 on the last day of a long convention. Of course, I’m guessing TGall has already done something similar on his end and figured out the change(s) he needed to win it.

I think people take it because there really isn't another decent option for Ravos yet but I may put some time on the table with Ravos just having Insatiable and see if it makes much of a difference.

Suppose over the course of a tournament, perhaps V. Goblet comes into play more but since all events barely go past three games, I think the points are best spent else where.

I don't see Viscera Goblet as a +1 wound threshold upgrade to Ravos, though that often is all it is. From that perspective, 7 points seems high. In about 50% of my games, that extra woumd lets Ravos live an extra round, so I compare 7 points to how many points he killed in that next round. In games where Viscera Goblet saves Ravos, I'm pleased with the points.

I agree that Viscera is probably the first thing to cut, because you just don't know if it will be worth the points. I have never even tried it though, and always been happy with just Insatiable.

Of course, I have a different solution to that problem...out with Ravos, and in with Kethra!

Also, since this topic is about Gen Con...I really enjoyed meeting everyone there, seeing your armies, playing some Runewars, and hanging out and talking games with you all. Hope to see you there again next year, if not sooner!

Congrats to Church14 for a well earned victory.

It was an epic game and I'm awful sorry it wasn't streamed. At 3 MoV it was as dramatic a game as you could about imagine. I'm still smiling about the whole thing. That was just crazy good fun.

Thanks to everyone for coming out, was really nice to see the numbers.

On Viscera's Goblet, I think it's an essential upgrade for Ravos. One of the benefits is it does give you an extra turn as well as deployment options without feeling the stress of taking a wound because you have munch on yourself as the first turn or two develop. Since I tend to aim him towards the action that generally results in the goblet filling with a wound counter or two when a unit disappears. I dunno I guess I feel like I get my money's worth out of it.

Course now I'm looking at what all I might be able to accomplish with Kethra ... Ravos might be sitting on the shelf for awhile...

I've had one game with both of them and I loved it!

Just want to second what others have said here, congrats to Church on another win. Just no stopping him it seems!

With Gen Con now over, we have the UK Regional and National coming up in August and I think that's it for OP until Worlds? With that being said, Gen Con was also the last event that didn't have Wraiths, Keth'ra, Danarti and Scouts so i'm looking forward to how the meta shapes and if the power struggle swings once more.

Will Uthuk still be the main salt generator?
Will Church continue on his "Heaver" like win streak?
Will Waiqar become THE faction to plan for with all their new mechanics?
Will I ever cut my hair?

Only time will tell.

Jukey and I should be hitting up the Indianapolis regionals. It is the first OP event with the new stuff as far as I know.

I will try to simultaneously cause this salt by winning and lessen the salt by helping develop counter strategies.

I play Waiqar as well. I will see if I can make this true

I'll see you two this weekend, then, too!
