SSD Measurements

By Atromix, in Star Wars: Armada

In the SSD article they mentioned that the base for the SSD is made up of two separate large size bases, with that specification and the top-down image of the SSD with the base overlay I was able to work out that the SSD is approximately 60.67cm (24.1") long and 19.76cm (7.5") wide.

Personally I was hoping for it to be a bit bigger but it's still a good size imo.

What is everyone else's opinions on this size for it?

2 feet is one third of the table lengthwise so it's going to have the desired effect for anyone looking at the table me thinks which is something along the lines of "good Lord! Look at all that ship!"

Does anyone have the exact measurements of the x-wing raider to compare?

@KaLeu I believe the Raider in x-wing is about 13.5 inches (34.5cm).

Confirmed, the Raider is right about 13.5 in. If you put an ISD and leave about 3 inches in between them, you get an idea of size.

Put 3 ISDs front to back and that should be a good representation as well.

They said in the article "over 24" and 24" is just shy of 610mm. My guess is the thing is 610mm long which comes back to 24.015761" long so "over" 24". The closest fractions of an inch would be 1/64" which makes for lousy article copy. I would look for it to be some exact number of mm under 24-1/2".

Yes it's quite likely that my measurements a slightly off, so I'd expect it to be a little larger.

First time I made measurment base on this pic my evaluation was 30 inch

then I realize they buff the ssd size on that picture once I read it was on 2 large base seriously look at the isd base vs ssd one....

so until it came from someone with a ruller on the real physical model i think trying to figure its size from any render is somewhat irrelevant

on a side note Crabbok say it was 24inch/ 2 feet on one of its recent vid.

I based my measurements off of this Image posted in the article:

Disappointed that they might have increased the size in the comparison images. The one from the pic above would have been a great size.

I agreed this is a better picture to made measurments and you actualy get it right with what they say in the article!

They also use the Prototypes as the versions used in normal games and those were all smaller than the Executor-class

Considering the width of the board is 3', can this thing make a u-turn?

I don't expect it to turn on a dime but on the otherhand I would hate if SSD have a predictable linear path.

Not without upgrades; The SSD we've has no clicks on its speed chart, so if you navigated every turn, you would turn 135 degrees. Jerjerod might work, although I suspect he's going to get errata'd to have a reduced/no effect on huge ships because that thing is going to fishtail like crazy with even a single click.

thanks, after you wrote I saw @Crabbok video showing one of the cards, I am quite suprised it does not have any turning points yet they did put dashes rather than blocking out entirely, so so there is some wiggle room.

It's approximately salmon-length.
