actually they look more like exotically shaped metal Tonfa

but bladed Tonfa have sown up in some movies. either version actually fits wookies IMO, since they are mostly clubbing and punching weapons, with the added bonus of being able to better block incoming attacks.

Yes, but a tonfa is practical and doesn't give you less reach than your fist.
