Were they ever not solar panels?

They used to be radiators to bleed heat away from the engine(s), which makes a **** of a lot more sense, seeing as the TIEs have their own power source.

I don't see that the one necessarily excludes the other. And I don't know much about ion drives, but I know that cars run on gasoline, and yet still require a battery.

Star Wars falls to pieces when you try to examine in scientifically. I just know that they keep changing their story on what the panels are supposed to be for.
What they really do is look cool and let us tell the good ships from the terrorist ships.

To be fair, they also serve the purpose of preventing the ships from getting through narrow gaps by rolling, the way Rebel ships can.
What are we looking at for a release schedule? Are we only getting the FO at xmas or will there be another ship in the wave? I gotta believe they'll come out pretty quick otherwise the faction won't be viable for like a year. Is the first two at xmas and the other two in the spring a reasonable hope? Then maybe a new ship every quarter or so?

The ST factions won't be strong on variety but they'll definitely be viable. Rare that you put more than 4 different ships in a list.
That's not to say I wouldn't welcome new ships with open arms ofc.

Wave 2 (resistance, First Order, and that scum tie) are here by Christmas based on best approximation. Maybe they’ll be late per ffg old standards, but hopefully for them and us it’s on time.
We don’t know anything else about release schedule definitively, although Sep 13 to Dec something is 3ish months, so we could be looking at quarterly releases if they keep it up. However, it’s worth noting not all factions will get new toys every wave (rebels and Imps are left out of wave 2).
I am hoping that next year the sequel factions can pick up a little - Resistance (the tv show) should be underway by then and granting us new sequel ships to fly.

They painted their solar panels white, so yeah...
i'd be surprised to see Quickdraw's ability go away
Its an inferior Dengar ability since its limited to absolute max 4 revenge shots (with shield upgrade) and more than likely she only gets 2 anyway, while dengar gets them till the day he dies. Yeah his is limited to the guy that hit him, but considering he gets it off significantly more thats kinda irrelevant. Plus, QD has to actually get hurt, Dengar doesnt.
The silencer NOT getting a medium base is a bit wired ...
... maybe because the model itself is oversized and not meant to be in a IG-2000ish size ...
I always found that there is something wrong with that ship...
... yeah that bugs me.

The original Silencer model was based off of old designs that Disney provided FFG, these designs were revised before the film was released. FFG has stated that the Silencer is getting a resculpt and will be more accurate, and therefore smaller, when it gets released for SE.

Ok, cool. I am looking forward to it
yeah the silencer we got is quite a bit bigger than it should be.
Its like...twice the xwing? silencer isnt THAT much bigger....
This is what happens when you tell a company to make toys for your movie and not provide all the information (or correct information).
I suspect that my beloved Backdraft will have a pilot ability similarly worded to the advanced targeting computer. Add a die out the back and then convert a hit to a crit.
I'm just not sure how playable the TIE/SF will be without LWF. That card really made the ship stand up to some punishment. You can't even say "fly better" with it's dial, either. The dial is highly limited if you are trying to avoid fire, but wonderful if you just want to run in and mix things up with both of your arcs.
i made my local meta absolutely HATE backdraft when he came out, long before LWF was a thing.
I only stopped using him because of Nym bs. Which isnt a thing in 2.0.

I'm very curious as to whether the s/f will get some dial changes or ship ability. Nothing has been spoiled as yet? Aside from the gunner. I half expect it to be put on par with the T70 or Defender, both had tweaks. With LWF gone, I feel it will deserve something.
Then again, it could remain the same but be relatively cheaper. It should be an interesting ship either way but I'd much prefer some tweaks.
