Mon Calamari Star Defender (or other Rebel Huge Ship) Thread

By Marinealver, in Star Wars: Armada

For the storyline purposes in the movie it doesn't suit the Rebels. But this is a game and for gameplay balance they probably need to introduce one. Raddus or Viscount Star Defender are decent go to choices.

Wookieepedia says pretty clearly that only the first prototype was 3km and the line model was 17 km, so i'll take that one. Besides, its both Legends anyway so FFG can do whatever they want and im pretty sure they wont go with the 3 km if they choose this ship as a epic ship.

Plus many sources state that it was pretty much conceived as any Executor-class equivalent so yeah.

If the finished product was 17km, then 3km wasn't a prototype; it was a miniature! O_o

What is this? A Star Defender for Ants!

I think (and hope) that the rebels wont get a huge class ship.

The civil war always have been an asymmetric conflict between the powerful and galaxy-ruling empire and a pittyful littel band (lol) of systems, united in the Rebel Alliance. The empire got the firepower (deathstar, executor) to do things - Rebels got their tactics, ideas and intel to disturb the imperial hegemony.

Adding a huge-scale ship like the Executor to the Rebel faction would damage this asymmetric conflict concept dramatically. Imagine there would be a different space combat game with a Star Wars setting and you would have a Deathstar in it. Would there be a rebel deathstar just to keep things balanced?! No.... So why implementing a Executor-size rebel ship into the game? .... and I dont care about any semi-canon super big Mon Cal ships anyway so :D

The MC80 "Home One" is the Flagship of the Rebel fleet and the flying base of the Alliance - this associates that its the biggest/most powerful/most important ship of the Alliance. If a Rebel player wants to stop the Executor he can do it easily. for that point cost you can bring around 3 MC80s on the table, flanking and (im sure) destroying the huge whale... so no rebel whale needed!

Why bring three MonCals when you could just bring a single A-Wing?

I know no one asked, but i'm a big fan of the Scythe and Mon Remonda as well so I tried to combine them. I don't think they look to bad together.

I would be a big fan of No.3. I really like the Stingray shape and the vertical bridge!!

Here is what looks like an E@W mod but I am not sure.

I think the SSD should have won this match

Spoiler is for my opinion on the results.
