If we're going to be really pedantic we don't actually know anything about the "size class" of the SSD. We have no rules discussing it.
We do have some quotes from the article that mention the ship being a new "class", but it says nothing about it being a new "size class." And articles aren't rules anyway.
From the article it seems likely that the SSD will come with new rules about "Huge ships." This may involve defining a new Huge "size class" - and if so, we can only speculate as to what that definition will be. So far we have no size class specific rules, so we have absolutely nothing to go on. FFG gets to make up the rules and they can put whatever they like in there.
To be really, really pedantic, without new rules the SSD is a "Large" ship. To quote the FAQ'd rules:
QuoteEach ship has a size class: small, medium or large. Small ships use the 43 mm x 71 mm base, medium ships use the 63mm x 102mm base, and large ships use the 77.5mm x 129mm base.
So without new rules the ship has to be either small, medium or large. It can't be a small or medium ship as it doesn't use those bases (although it does use the 77.5mm x 129mm base), so it must be a large ship by exhaustion.
So maybe let's ease off on deciding how the SSD must work with existing size class rules until we actually get to see the rules?

If you gain the token automatically as you reveal the dial, you can probably just toss your freebie Nav token to toss the raid token and still use the Nav dial to speed up.
Yeah it would be better off with oldschool nose punch and use regular bombers
I'm glad they are finally releasing the SSD, but they could have saved themselves a ton of rules issues and made the SSD more integrated and playable with current 6x3 400 point matches if they only put this thing on a Large base, or made a new Huge size that wasn't so long (slightly bigger than Large would have been fine). That huge SSD base length is the source of all of these oddities. That base is way too big for 6x3 mats. It's going to have to move speed 1 or stop in many games, just to keep it's assteroid in play.

For all that POWAAA! suggested in the SSD- this is my biggest concern. I've seen B-Wing fighter mixes easily defeating less-than-max fighter escorts and mulching ISDs.
The command version we see the card for doesn't necessarily defend itself better than the ISD-II (lacking a defensive retro, necessitating Tua). Two blues, a slot for Quad Lasers... you can take a fighter escort, but that's more points on top of your already costly super ship. Yet you need the other ships to make the gratuitous fleet commands worth it...
I'm eager to get one of them to the table and explore all the options... but I'm also wondering what conditions are necessary for the Executors to hit the table, if those are not for standard play.
I'm a bit concerned about this ship. One extra attack, auto Leia included, auto SAd included, more than one officer slot. Add Palpy to the Mix and... well... You still have room for an ISD!!! I'm thinking about any counter for this ship but so far I have nothing...

Yet such a setup deals fewer attacks than Triple ISD for literally the same price ?
Sure but did you look at the armament of that Extractor Class for example? I didn't do the math but I'm pretty sure it rolls more dice.

Yeah, but comparing THAT one is probably Triple ISD on its OWN.
My two cents
My main question so far is how Expanded Armament and High Capacity Ion Turbines work on this ship. If a red/blue dice is added to every side arc then it's nearly an auto-include for me, especially with Vader.

After reading its stat block... so am I!
Squadron deployment is another thing that might change. Range 1-2 of this can be pretty far out there.
YESSSSS!!!!!! My wife is going to be pissed.

well that is what B-wings are, they are so slow they are more used as mines. Deploy them for area denial.

I was just thinking on the boost they get to speed if that beast overlaps them.

I think the article is relatively clear. The hull zones on the SSD are:
front
right
right auxilliary
left
left auxilliary
rear
So there isn’t an ambiguity. It is the right and left hull zones that get the extra dice. Right aux and left aux are unaffected.

Maybe it comes with a space tug to help turn

It works on side arcs, but not auxiliary arcs.

It will depend if the terms are inclusive.
Armed station is a station.
Friendly ship is a ship.
Not saying you're wrong. Just that is also possible that a right auxiliary hull zone is also a right hull zone.
As long as the RRG must be modified anyways to include this we will know.
Looks so awesome and well priced given how expensive this game gets.
Its the price of four star destroyers at stock price.
I think each of us have a grand or close to a grand''s worth of Armada content if we each really broke it down.

I only hate that it is possible to field 2 in CC. It ask me for buying two.
