Other implications of the GenCon presentation - Armada *NOT* getting Clone Wars factions

By xanderf, in Star Wars: Armada

Poor Imperial Assault, they were the ones that could have matched X-wing.

I will admit the ven diagram of factions and what FFG $tar War$ game has them is getting confusing. At the Very Core we have the original (Rebels vs Empire) then some we have scum, some have 1stOrder/Resistance (though not as separate factions). Legion will have clone wars and no scum, x-wing will have all the factions. Rebellion will have nothing.

If you think about it, Clone Wars just doesn't have enough warships for the Republic other than they already released. Acclamators, Venators, Dreadnoughts and that's about it. You can make a Republic variant of the Gozanti, the Kitten and the VSD but that would be a really lame expansion.

I would imagine, if they did launch a new set of factions for the Clone Wars - it would be as noted in the thread, several years down the road as it isn't even on THIS slide which projects a few years out. So...get the Rebels their huge ship in the Lucrehulk they use, maybe give them a Munificent-class frigate or something as another Clone Wars leftover (non-canon, so far, but probable)...

...then you can kick off the Clone Wars with a 'conversion kit' like X-Wing did for the Scum faction in 'Most Wanted'. New base-plates for the Lucrehulk, Munificent, Pelta, Victory, ARRRGHkittens, and Gozer for the appropriate factions, and include the box with squadrons for the Seps (Vulture droids) and Republic (?ARC-170s?) in new squadron colors.

I dunno, it doesn't feel super likely to me - I mean, Clone Wars is coming back with just a 12 episode run, so...good for games with quick turnaround on SKUs to get in on the hype (so....X-Wing and Legion). For released planned 2 years out or more, when Disney is going to have wrapped the entire sequel trilogy, have a few seasons of the new sequel-era TV show, and be working on another trilogy altogether? Hard to imagine the Clone Wars still being in the forefront of anyone's mind, then...

It will always be on the forefront of my mind. I mostly like the massive space/ground battles from the CW. And some of the books were great. The big space battle idea kinda works better for CW era, I don't recall that many times the rebels gathered up a big fleet to have a slugging match with the empire. But since its way less popular, and sometimes despised I'm happy with what we have and won't be too disappointed if we never get CW ships.

I just realized that Clone Wars had 12 episodes almost completely ready when they were shot down. One of them saw the brief return of Ahsoka. I'm pretty sure we gonna see this. And another was about a strange scouting force of an unknown species which didn't use any machinery. Yup, the Yuuzhan Vong, although I'm certain we won't see that episode... SO basically Disney seems only to finish the half completed episodes minus the Vong, which is fine by me. Although I would have preferred to see the Vong in action instead of Crying Ren and the Order of Doofuses...
