Good grief, FFG must have really hated the way the HWK-290 got used in 1st edition or something, when an unarmed craft still gets '2' attack in 2nd edition...

It isn't unarmed, the pilot just rolls down the window and shoots at stuff as they passby.

I can't watch videos at work; please, what is the ability of the gunner and text of the talent?

Composure requires a focus action and gives you a focus if you fail an action (note that it's hard to fail locks as you can lock rocks)
Agile gunner lets you rotate your arc for free in the end phase

I'm more concerned how anyone gets into the escape pod.

There is an engine at the part where it connects to the ship!

According to the rules reference, the lock action fails if no object is chosen. So if you perform a TL action and your intended target is out of range, you aren't locked into locking a nearby rock or friendly ship, you can choose to fail the lock action instead. This lets you trigger composure or maintain a previous lock

Interesting question :

does Arvel Crynyd's "bumping boost" considered as a failed action ? That would be a nasty combo with Composure ?
