So I am seriously behind. I am looking for opinions on current Imperial builds that are fun and have some competitive aspects. Look g for something more interesting than the old Rhymer and Co or boring Glad rush... Something fun please!
Need some help
Rhymer's kinda out of the picture anyway. Dual Cymoon star destroyers under Vader are a thing right now (or you could try triple.) Here's another one I've had some fun with. Chimaera lets you swap EF! for IF! to help the Arqs.
Name: No Squads, Just Dice
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Moff Jerjerrod
Assault: Most Wanted
Defense: Fire Lanes
Navigation: Navigational Hazards
Imperial II (120)
• Moff Jerjerrod (23)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• Spinal Armament (9)
• Chimaera (4)
• Entrapment Formation! (5)
= 183 Points
Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
• Intel Officer (7)
= 61 Points
Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
• Intel Officer (7)
= 61 Points
Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
• Intel Officer (7)
= 61 Points
Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Comms Net (2)
= 25 Points
Squadrons:
= 0 Points
Total Points: 391
I've recently been having a lot of fun with a Screed Kuat ISD list. I've one-shot CR90s from my side-arcs with that thing.
Kuat ISD (112)
-Screed (26)
-Fire Control Team (2)
-Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
-Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
-Electronic Countermeasures or Early Warning System (7)
Total: 163
Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
-Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
Total: 61 (I run two of them, so that comes out to 122)
Comms Net Gozanti (25)
Grand Total: 310
Squads can be added as desired. I usually run it without squads, instead taking a standard Demolisher build. If I took squads, though, I'd probably take a few Rogues, since this fleet is not geared towards squadron command.
There is an active topic on this one. Fyi, the ISD Cymoon refit has 5 red, 2 blue out the front and has a Fleet Command Slot like the Pelta.
It deals with high squad fleets by aggressively pursuing the carriers. And a key appears to be to make sure you don’t lose two ISDs; losing one is surmountable.

That’s the one!
Hmmmm interesting builds. Pretty straight forward really though I am pretty sure @PT106 was the dual ISD list and I did enjoy Vader ISDs in the past... Fun times

The best thing of it is that any other list make you feel like YOU being the list.

PT was one of the first, but since then a lot of people have been experimenting with it. Giled Palleaon wrote an unabridged encyclopedia on the topic

PT still plays dual ISD's, but now it's not an "outside" fleet build. It's a fully mainstream list you will see usually multiple of at tournaments. Vader, Motti, JJ, Screed are all rocking dual ISD lists. ----Thanks for the ninja, Moose.
Honestly, asking for a meta breakdown right now is hard, the meta is pretty wide. It's much wider for Rebels, as it always has been, but Imperials aren't in a bad place.
The biggest legitimate limitation for Imperials right now is the even MORE pronounced reliance on the ISD as the base of the fleet. In competition, I wouldn't take an imperial fleet without an ISD, or situationally a super interdictor. Tabling is too huge of a risk.
So when you are building a fleet, pick an ISD - if it doesn't have a defensive retrofit add tua and ecm, and then fill out the rest of the fleet. Very very few cases that this isn't the starting point for any decent imperial list.

Wow I missed a bit. The ship is dangerous but in a triple list you are relying on shields and hull to survive... Wonder if I could tear these apart with DtO

There are those enjoying triple Cymoons right now, but for me 2+ support will always be more effective than 3 nearly naked

Yea, I was going to go that route since Imperials have some of the best officer slots

Yea, but when you are talking about long range you need super rolls to stop a MC 30 from getting in the side. Or in my case just quick brake dodging to stay out of range

That's why with triple Cymoons (and also double or even just one) I recomend Vader over anyone else.
It would be nice a turbolaser upgrade or a weapon team upgrade that allowed rerolls on red (better than Veteran Gunners what looks like a failed attempt to me).

As far as 2ISD list is concerned the current evolution of that idea is @CaribbeanNinja Worlds list. He has a pretty good and detailed battle report about it here There are a lot of other 2ISD lists (esp double Cymoons) however I consider those more risky as far as reliance on matchups goes.

I like it so much but I still feel myself too unconfortable with just 1 ship on the table...
Sloan also works pretty well. This was what I took to the Toronto Store champs last weekend (as can been seen from the title, is something I've been working on a bunch):
Sloan ISD attempt 4
Author Derek MacKinnon
Fraction: Galactic Empire
Points: 400/400
Commander: Admiral Sloan
Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Superior Positions
[Flagship] Imperial Star Destroyer II (120)

- Gunnery Teams (7)
- XI7 Turbolasers (6)
- Avenger (5)
- Captain Brunson (5)
- Electronic Countermeasures (7)
- Leading Shots (4)
= 178 total ship cost
Quasar Fire I-class Cruiser-Carrier
- Pursuant
- Flight Controlers
- Expanded Hanger Bay
- Boosted Coms
= 71 total ship cost
Gozanti-class Cruisers
- Suppressor (4)
- Comms Net (2)
= 29 total ship cost
Squadrons:
Dengar (20)
Howlrunner(16)
Mauler Mithel (15)
Colonel Jendon (20)
Valen Rudor (13)
Ciena Ree (17)
Maarek Steele (21)

Managed to win the Toronto store champs last weekend with it, but that was a lot of luck as my Sloan dice were really hot.

Fair enough. So I deviated but before I delved far too much onto this topic I wanted to see what I would make before and after my research. Thoughts would be nice

No point on Precision Strike.
Fire Lanes against 1 intel will be a lost.
Salvage Run is ok. I guess I prefer Solar Corona to make four deployments matter.
I also heard Needa or Brunson will help an arquitens to get the most from TRC. With Vader and IF I would look for xi7 on those ISDs

I was looking at all of that. Precision Strike is only because I am very familiar with it and the free toke helps, Fire Lanes is interesting when you have what 12 red dice starting on them but you are right I am not used to the Intel use and such

It feels like it would be eaten alive by any serious bomber fleet.
