That doesn't replace the TIE Fighter though does it? It's used in smaller numbers to supplement it. like the A-Wing and B-Wing, it's specialisation and variety rather than simple "we couldn't do this before, now we can" better.

My exact thoughts as well. Moving forward my buying habits will be focused on what I find fun and what pilots I want to fly. I’m not worried about competitiveness because so far it seems FFG is trying to accommodate everyone. My wallet is going to suffer dearly.

Agreed! I started drooling at the sight of the Mining Guild TIE, and then they went and announced Clone Wars; I want to see an N-1 as well as the Twilight/G9 Rigger.
Threadly reminder that the Scurrg bomber, which dominates the tables of the first edition, is 15 years older than the Clone Wars ships and 65 years older than sequel ships.

Well there is the whole part about them using Clone Wars ships already. Z-95s, Y-Wings, ARC-170s, Naboo Starfighters, Scurrg Bomber, Firesprays, a good chunk of the capital ships for the Imperials, V-wings for many years before TIEs were everywhere. Heck even the Falcon was from that era. And all those ships held up pretty darn well against or even outclassed the "newer ships". Classic example Falcon > Quadjumper/TIE FOs.
But if that's not good enough well than you are lost! Haha.
Seriously though Star Was tech never really gets better. The Ebon Hawk could probably take on any first order Ship.

It is a definite improvement, in response to the rebels getting better gear (once again, "improving", since T65s are better than good'ol Y-wings).
Of course you don't replace the entire fleet of a galactic-wide army in a few years (but by the time of Endor, advanced TIE series represent 20% of the imperial starfighter force).

N-1 is the only good Clone Wars era ship design, so of course I'm excited for it.

Plus I don't know if you've realized, but it's mentionned a few times in 5 movies that the Falcon is a one a kind ship, especially modified through the years (and the advancement of technology?^^).

I agree it's an improvement, I don't agree that reflects technology improving and allowing them to make it, I think it reflects them seeing a need for it that they didn't see before.
How do you answer my point that if they've had this sort of technology (hyperdrives, blasters, lightsabers, etc) for thousands of years it's not unimaginably more advanced than it is? How could it not have plataued? Every individual ship should be able to destroy a planet if it's been improving for thousands of years at the rate our technology does.

But TIE Fighter is not an improvement over Clone Wars era ships, it's a different approach because of the change in doctrine.
Y-wing fits a different role than X-wing, at least by design, it was supposed to be a bomber and Alliance uses its stripped down version as a fighter because they are poor and there are pleny second hand Y-wings floating around. X-wing is a dedicated fighter. Also Y-wings do just fine on Endor, keeping up with other fighters in the Death Star II and destroying TIE Interceptors left and right.

It's an improvement in terms of manoeuverability, at least. But yeah, also a change of doctrine.
(Note that the ETA-2 doesn't have shields either)

They had the TIE/ln. A "space superiority fighter", soon to be replaced by a better model (let's say IMPROVED), the TIE/IN, since rebels got better tools than old ships from the CW.

And maybe they'll cross faction ARCs, Wookies, Z-95, sheathapede, and give us clothed (armored?paneled?) Y-Wings. Also Hondo's saucer and whatever his minions flew, that piece of garbage Anakin and Ashoka fly with the movable wing, the sorosuub yacht. Throw in the rest of the SWG scum ships while at it. Maybe an Ebon Hawk. A Y-8 for epic. Next year is full of hope.
P.S. Windu is Snoke. Lightninged out a window then sliced in half by Emo Vader. And he was shown motionless afterward so there'll be no spider-snoke hijinks.
