My highest damage as rebels in 1 shot was a MC75 front arc with Eracks for 10 damage 1 acc... plus acms for 12 damage total...

Which is a 1 shot only couldn't be repeated twice in a game

A Hammerhead with ex racks, & some other cards & dice manipulation rolled 11 freaking damage on me once! First roll of the game. That sucked.

Wow, my condolences

1. Well FFG jumped the shark. 2. Yep, Armada is dying. 3. Too bad, it was a good game. 4. And as I said the model looks sad for its scale. 5. Was looking forward to playing this fall but now I’m looking at my X-Wing wondering if second edition will make it fun again. 6. Because this piece of crap is going to ruin the balance of the game and my enjoyment. 7. Just lame.

Diagnosing an overblown whine post, in 7 steps.

1. Opening with opinion presented as fact. Solid play, but ultimately opinions are useless in presenting an argument. However, when there are no facts to present, one must present an opinion as a fact instead.

2. Opinion as fact rd 2, go! Armada is not dying, you are just leaving it. It will live without you if that's your call.

3. Opinion as fact, in the negative! When you need to mix it up to try to conceal you actually don't have an argument to present. It continues to be a good game, since no one gave you executive decision making power to determine good and bad. We vote by playing, and many communities are reporting significant growth <--- example of an actual, albeit anecdotal, fact.

4. Opinion as fact AGAIN. You say the model looks sad, I say it looks rad. I am basing my opinion off having actually played games with the (what I assume to relatively closely sized) Mel Miniatures SSD. You are basing yours off.... a grainy picture on an internet forum with 0 table experience with the model? Opinions, when backed up with experience, can at least be tempered by reality. Yours is purely reactionary bias.

5. X-Wing is a great game, I'm sure you will have fun playing it. Or you could play Armada, literally no one is stopping you one way or the other. Do what makes your heart soar like the eagles. You want us to say the Armada scene will miss you? Ok, no problem saying that, I'm not one to invite players to leave our community- that's a **** move. We miss every player that moves on - but they move on, and we replace them with a new player or two, and keep moving on. I'm willing to bet the farm that more people say, "**** yes SSD," and start playing than say, "Boo SSD I quit!".

6. Since you have absolutely, empirically, less than nothing to base this claim on, I will just go ahead and chalk it up to that massive bundle your undies must be in. Since so far you have presented 0 facts, 5 opinions, 1 one statement of preference all you have accomplished other than telling us you are interested in X-Wing 2.0 is whining into the void and trying to legitimize those whines by sounding authoritative, which you aren't.

7. Opinion not even masquerading as a fact. You think it's lame, I think this is both exciting and the most logical step for Armada at this point in order to maintain and add new interest and expand the horizons to larger point play as was mentioned in the speech.

Figured this would be generally helpful in the coming days as we talk about the SSD.

After examining the image some more, here are my thoughts:

Double brace, double redirect, double contain. It will be VERY difficult to take it down. Great.

I'm not sure about the Command value but it looks like 6(!!!) Squadron is definitely 5 while Engineering is a meh 4. Interesting...

3 variants, also great.

I love the arcs. It makes sense that the side arc was cut in half. Otherwise it could doublearc the whole board. I also love the armament. Impressive, but not totally overwhelming. The AA armament on the other hand is nothing special, but that makes total sense for me.

Finally shields. 4 front, 3 on the sides, at least that's what it looks like. About the same as an ISD which with 22 hull points sounds just about right for balance.

this is going to live and die by objectives. So many decisions.

I think they said 4. I believe the last card is upside down on the very left of the image.

Looks more like 4 to me. Also in the components spread there are only 4 dials.

FTFY ?

Man Jerjerrod with this thing is gonna be insane

The 4 Engineering is because it'd be impossible to kill with anything more. 5 engineering is a huge difference over 4. 6+ base engineering would be ridiculous.

Can't wait for an interdictor to take this down with grav shift reroute. Just put all the obstacles in front of it and it won't escape them for 6 rounds.

It'll have the equivalent of a Jaina's Light title and no one will ever play anything else.

Shmitty got a closeup video of the model in 720p. Kudos to him, it looks great!

That moment when I’m out of likes before noon but the forums are just warming up.

Wait... They still do that! I hate that feature so much

That front-shot is wondeful, but we really need a back shot, so we get a glimpse of what it's like to command it!

Wonder how the rear arcs are? Anyone get dice on those?

Yep. Such a stupid limit.

This was report by some persons, maybe not 100% accurate but it's a start :

at least 4 titles

quad turbolasers

freaking point defense reroute 1f602.png?

1 covered card

ship stats:

Command probably 4 (4 dials)

22 hull points

nine die front 3 each

blackblue squadron

2x brace

2x redirect

2x contain

6 forward shields

3 side shields (first side hull zone)

1 version:

3 officer slots

same Version possibly 33 hull - not sure yet

at least one presumably fleet command, weaponsteam, ion, turbolaser, offensive retrofit.

Just like to point out in that picture you can see this is, indeed, the SWM20!

Dayum. It really did take them "years" to figure out how to make the model...

Awesome details! It really looks great. Now I wanna see a comparison with Mel's miniature :)

More like how to make it where they can still sell it at a relatively affordable price. Balanced also helps a little.

And years to playtest for balance.

I have a picture of Mels next to an ISD here that might be able to give us a slight sense of scale on them. But I am suspicious that the current side by side might be a little off scale. It looks bigger than the model on display at the base.

For reference - SWM21 ('Phoenix Home'), and SWM22 (the AARRRRRGHkittens), were announced as Wave V on August 5, 2016 - IE., it's been almost exactly 2 years to the day since we noticed SWM20 was missing. (And obviously SWM21 and SWM22 were done playtesting, models made, and ready for release at that point 2 years ago - so the Super Star Destroyer has been baking for a while!)
