33 hull is only at Epic play, trust me I'll kill it.... They all blew up eventually ;)

"Imagine that. Little Rae Sloane, manning an entire Super Star Destroyer all by herself. Our last, isn't it?"

In epic play I imagine I have to steer it by nudging it with other star destroyers.

I'm not so sure (a Gladiator can unload lets say 7 damage per attack, so 4 after brace or 8 damage and spent braces from a single GSD activation). however it's much easier to take one down with squads.

Yes but you'll need to take multiple ships such as 4 glads to not get 1 popped close range...

watch an MC80 Ackbar hit all 3 SSD arcs a turn.....

rebels expansion should be interesting to say the least

My highest damage as rebels in 1 shot was a MC75 front arc with Eracks for 10 damage 1 acc... plus acms for 12 damage total...

Which is a 1 shot only couldn't be repeated twice in a game

Maybe. The issue is getting close enough. 3 attacks means it's bristling with dice and it's so long you'll likely only face one side. If it takes GT, it will be like super Ackbar, just throwing 3 attacks broadside and you can't escape it unless you disengage. Close range ships work well when they don't get shot at while closing in or while escaping. I don't see a good way to do either against an SSD, unless you stack your fleet into 1 arc and charge in. But that comes with its own problems, like formation flying into a moving wall that's trying to kill you.

Squads are the easier option for getting into range, but I expect the SSD to shrug off most squad attacks with upgrades and massive hull.

Not with that back side arc of what 4 dice... Yea that's possible but it would take a turn or two to get into position while dodging the front arc

Yeah just seen the arcs, looks very unlikely to triple tap any ship. 1 double tap, plus an extra ship/squad shot..

reckon it'll be priced to allow a VSD and some squads max, which imo would be a challenge but beatable still...

I like challenges. Its the spice of life

With three attacks and that arc setup, I can see this thing having no reason not to flak with gunnery teams. Oh you stacked everything in one arc? I'll just shoot all of it. A lot of the time flaking isn't effective unless you do it continuously and this thing will be able to.

So the Executor-class fits into 400pt games? What can fit with the SSD in a standard list, when 2 ISDs is hard enough to work as is.

I think the new standard should be 600pts.

They have said the standard game version can have 2 supposedly... So you could see a world's title match where its dual SSD vs dual SSD

I need a quote on that. I haven't heard them say that.

I strongly believe Palp will take 2 officer slot. Also, advenced projectors might be the go-to def retro one way or another(might not have def retro slot bec of dual brace, but then tua)

Will need to find that but I am pretty sure it was stated early on from the people there @Crabbok @shmitty anything to contribute?

FFG definitely has NOT said that. This rumor needs to stop right here before it gets legs.

Will do. Wonder where it came from.

The swirling vortex of fan excitement.

If there is a variant with 3 officer slots you can fake a command 1 SSD just by filling those with Engineering Captain and the like.

The SSD, the Smurfy Star Destroyer Commanded by Smurf Vader. A Joke for the Joke of a ship.

Serioulsy that ship is supposed to be more than 10 times the size of an ISD and it looks like it got pushed into a bath of ice water. Pathetically small!

"Sliding scale". It's not as big as hoped, no, but...it's not awful. It certainly dwarfs the next-biggest ship in the game...

Meh, it's a table top game. The CR90 is supposed to fit inside the Profundity and ISD, guess what it doesn't do

Indeed. Mel's is about 26" long, and people who bought that seemed to be happy with it. This looks both bigger and cheaper. I estimate it as around 30".

Played 1500 using CC rules, most awesome game ever.

Honestly, I'd prefer the 'Epic' rules for Armada instead embrace the asymmetry of the Empire-vs-Rebellion warfare.

1000 Empire side vs 500 Rebel side or something, but with objectives that wildly favor the Rebel player. It should be possible to balance well enough for scenario/campaign play, if not the full range of possibilities that competitive/tournament play has, but, then...it's a new play style, so doesn't need to.
