Yep, so far... I imagine they will come later.... One side is always first each wave

No. They announce everything for an announcement.

Does this mean they will release a rebel needa to level the playing field?

Have to disagree. They want the spotlight on the SSD right now nothing else... Rebels will come

The Rebels are already 2 hulls ahead. This reduces the lead to 1.

Combat flotilla for each side so Rebel players don't complain as much maybe?

Honestly, it sorta felt like, "Okay, yes we have armada news now. Here you go, its the SSD you've all been asking for. Now shut up so we can tell legion and xwing they are getting clone wars stuff."

Also, Star Wars had a considerably shorter time than the other games it felt like, but that might just be me.

I hear you but at this point I will take it and be happy for a few minutes.

And the response about clone wars in armada not being listed... man... thats rough. "Sounds like an oversight." I get the SSD is a huge thing. Its been sought for YEARS by some people. And thats great, and fine and I am glad. Maybe I'll pick one up at some point... but what is the casual, non-200 dollar person getting? What is the new player going to think when they go to armada night at their local store and steve has the SSD on the table.

I just started playing last november... if you had told me then, that a 200 dollar ship was the end-all be-all of the imperial fleet... man... I cant fathom playing against more than two ISDs or how to even win against max squad lists yet. Now I need to pump 22 damage into something... or its throwing up to what... 16, dice at me... possibly twice a turn.

Thats a brutal ship. It excites, and terrifies me. I want one, but I dont have the storage I dont think. I want to fly it, and have it flown against me, but I am concerned about how fun it will be. I mean, I stop having fun when its 2 ships... I cant imagine ONE.

TLDR: Very much excited, cant wait... hope its a fun ship to play with eventually...

If they went in-depth about the SSD there wouldn't be time for anything else at all.

Plus, they just launched some random card game with weird mechanics, so they'll show off that for a bit.

Yeah, seemed weird, and interesting... I dont know how I feel about that yet. Could be cool, seems needlessly complicated.

Also, trust in the heart of the cards.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of wallets suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

More like so many people's wallets just got the same treatment that Jedah got in Rogue One from the Death Star.

I think this is because GenCon is where they have an opportunity to draw attention to their other games which don't have the benefit of the Star Wars license for publicity.

While I wholeheartedly agree with @thecactusman17, I felt that Armada was the priority during the Star Wars portion of the presentation. He led with Armada and we were the only SW product with a video presentation. He also emphasized that they had been working on this for years and that they had sent it back multiple times to be resculpted just to make sure they were satisfied with the model. The SSD presentation seemed heartfelt and special, like they care enough about the Armada community to get this right; the other SW presentations felt like they were just throwing more toys at people. I was very happy with the presentation.

It's Star Wars. How much hype does it need? "Here's a new Star Wars product! ...and our janitors are already standing by to vacuum up all the money now being thrown into the air."

I wish them luck on all the other products they are hawking with the longer presentations - after all, their success is our success - but...and I say this as mostly a boardgamer more than a miniature gamer...they kinda all look like shite and I really have 0 interest in any of them. (ESPECIALLY that 'let's throw away the whole thematic look of the thing' 3rd edition of Arkham Horror. WT actual F.) Sooooo….

*Sees SSD anounced*

”time to get into armada”

*sees price*

”maybe a bit later”

*sees all the new legion expansions*

”guess i gotta rob a bank”

Well not to make light of your situation but in a cheeky way so was I. I actually save some money from my pay just for gaming. It doesn't have to be a lot just a little bit. By the time this comes out I would think you could have the money or a pretty good chunk of the cost, and yes I know for many its easier said than done.

We don't have release date on the SSD yet correct?

Q1 2019 was on the slide

don't know how I missed that.

Ok so a good 7 months around March. We all know how on time FFG is with releasing all their product. I think that's a good amount of time to prepare for the wallet hit.

You could prepare for the wallet hit, but it's just an excessive amount of money for an expansion and one the majority will struggle to afford, especially straight away when it comes out.

I'm glad I play rebels and the SSD will be about as rare as in lore ahah

Yes completely agree. I also think its too big for the game and I am sure I will only every play it once, it will sit on my shelf. as with all games I think its best to not go too deep into your pockets if you really can't.

Just waiting for that Friday article
