Rebel Glitter Addicts (2e)

By FriendofYoda, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I LOVE this list. Only played it briefly but the action efficiency is really good and it has a nice late gamer in Corran.

(198)

Esege Tuketu 66 (K-Wing)

Perceptive Co-pilot, Barrage Rockets

Garven Dreis 50 (X-Wing)

Selfless

Corran Horn 82 (E-Wing)

Elusive, Fire Control System, R4 Astro

So typically you focus with Esege and Garven, Corran either focuses or picks up an evade, already having his lock thanks to the E-Wing ship ability. Then Corran can spend both his tokens and Esege's. Garven spends his focus and throws it to Esege at init 4, Esege has a focus for his barrage rockets and another 1-2 for defense depending on what Corran spent. Here's the cool part, Garven has selfless, if they don't shoot him, you force their damage to spread while you start removing ships with your 3-4 attacks per round (with the potential for that Corran double tap). If they DO shoot Garven, well, he can spend a focus from Esege and then assign it to a ship - back to the K-Wing! So Garven gets glitterstim essentially as long as Esege has 1 focus and is in range 1-2. If they go for Corran he often has essentially focus, focus, evade plus the re roll from elusive and the protection of Garven's selfless.

I usually have my K-Wing primary pointed side to side, with the ability to shoot the barrage forwards. I have been spending charges for the re rolls if in my bullseye because you start with 5 of them and Esege can slam away and reload if it comes to it, although I expect him to generally die first. After the first couple of rounds of combat he's a great blocker with slam and a medium base, leaving Corran to k turn or sloop, recharge elusive thanks to the red and get back in the fight. If Esege has survived then he's great to also provide a couple of focuses for the others as they flip 180.

Not saying it's the best list ever, but it plays well and is a tonne of fun.

I have a 2 point bid for Corran but I'd love to find a way to get a bomb onto Esege if possible, I just don't see where I can get the points from. Having a way to punish them for going behind my K-Wing seems good and something like a seismic with a couple of charges would really threaten a flanking Vader/Soontir/Wedge. Perhaps there's another ace instead of Corran that might fit? I don't think Luke works here as he doesn't need the extra focus options thanks to his ability.

All advice and help welcomed, fly casual everyone!

I think Predator would be a better choice on Corran to REALLY synergize the ability, and R3 astro would help his action economy and prevent him being too predictable.

The rest seems amazing! Especially the Esege-Garven loop!

Okay so I managed to play test this twice yesterday vs a guy at our local store.

He ran Kath with Marauder, Outmaneuver, Han Solo (red focus at SoC), & Lando (spend green tokens for rerolls). Plus 3x init 3 Z-95's with Initimidation and Cluster Missiles.

Game 1

He gave me initiative which makes it easier for him to get locks on my init 3 Esege, but it also means Esege can pretty much guarantee that his move won't bump, so he can get his focuses and that means Corran can bump and not be tokenless. I actually decided to edit the above list slightly, dropping the bid and adding Tactical Scrambler to the K-Wing to give the guys behind him +1 defense dice.

So I set up Esege in the middle of the board facing to the right and as far back as he would go. His Z's went in the middle across from him. I then put Garven next to Esege facing forward and he, as I had hoped, put Kath in the corner hoping to flank and put Outmaneuver to work. I put Corran opposite Kath and set my dials. Esege 2 turned and 2 turned again to get into position to get after the Firespray. Garven 2 banked that direction and Corran went straight, picking up his lock on Kath for later, also feeding FCS. Kath came straight forward and the Z's did too, into the asteroid field which was going to restrict them a little. Next round Kath tried to turn and boost away, but my guys went fast and caught her at range 3, she took a bunch of shots with focus tokens everywhere (seriously efficient and super fun!) Kath lost her shields and took a card and I lost 1 shield on Esege in return. Not too shabby although a little lucky.

Next round I really considered slamming Esege in to block the Z's up and deny them their locks, but I felt it better to keep the squad together and wanted Esege to have the double focus from Perceptive. So I banked them all in, Kath ran away and I ps killed a Z, the other 2 deciding to go for Corran and trying to get lucky. With 4 agility, 3 focuses, and elusive - Corran took no damage and next round another Z was ps killed. I was lining my bullseye arc up nicely but Z's kept dying before init 0 so I often had them removed before Corran had a chance to double tap. At this point he really needed a clutch block on Corran from his last Z, Kath had come back around and with her ability she can throw 5 double modded at agility 2 Corran if he gets the bump - could be nasty! But that E-Wing dial is absolutely bonkers and I pulled off an unexpected 3 sloop, dodging the Z and landing range 1 of Kath, in bullseye and out of her arc, with Esege feeding him double focus. She died that round and the final Z followed soon after. His dice were definitely poor this game and I think with average rolls he kills a ship, but I felt really good and was excited to play again!

Game 2

We decided he would have initiative this time, I set up Esege and Garven together on the right and Corran in the middle. He went hard for Esege and Corran was able to flank, he managed to trade 1 Z for the K-Wing and I knew it'd be a tougher game, but Corran is just so slippery and he couldn't pin him down, I was able to double tap a Z off the board and Garven got another one. Kath tried desperately t get shots on Corran and was often getting to throw dice but with no mods due to going over a debris or bumping. It was a harder game and went longer, but in the end it was a 3 health Kath vs Corran and Garven, both with a shield still. I broke away to regroup and allowed Corran to get his lock back, swinging back in to hit her with both and take her off the board.

The list felt great and was one of the most fun I've honestly ever played. It was great having a communal pool of focuses and Garven having eternal glitterstim is just hilarious. I would love to fit a device onto the K-Wing to threaten like a Vader/Soontir who might try and get behind me, but I'd have to probably lose Selfless to do so, which is really nice to force split fire even though it never triggered in these 2 games. I'm at 200 so I expect the best 5's (e.g. Luke) and any 6's to get around my flanks and that will be a good test for this list, I need to see how it does there but if Selfless doesn't earn it's points I might throw Predator on Garven and switch the Tac Scrambler for Seismic's on Esege, just to give a little area control.

Sorry for the impromptu battle report! But I think it gives a good idea of where the list is at right now.
