What would it take to rebuy old ships?

By Animewarsdude, in X-Wing

And, no I don't mean in regards to upgrades. As far as the X-Wing models go, what would it take for you to buy a ship you already own one or more of for the game? A new model? A corrected one? A new paint job?

For me personally:

Rebels:

X-Wing - Well aside from the 2.0 version with built in Flappy Tech (TM) I'd be up to buy Blue Squadron versions or really any cool paint scheme they could do for it.

B-Wing - Likely would need to include a rotating cockpit or opening and closing S-foils, though a Blade Wing model from Rebels would get my attention too.

Z-95 - If they went with red squadron markings rather than blue.

YT-2400 - New mold based on Rebels version.

Ghost - If they had it where you could dock and undock both Phantom models.

Imperials:

Gunboat - Already have a few but maybe if they made it so that the wings could fold and unfold out like the Lambda.

Scum:

StarViper - Opening and closing wings, mostly for looks/storage.

Y-Wing - Want to see the scheme they go with for the updated model.

Lighting like people do on their custom jobs for engine glow and such :)

I want scyks style 2 (pointy front wings)

latest?cb=20100501224741

kihraxz as vaksai (style 1, advanced booster).

latest?cb=20100501233400

They already made my fave kimogala style (square engine housing and front fin) except it's missing the lower wing. So I want that.

Maybe the various TIEs could come with a second set of interchangeable wings that are battle damaged.

Honestly, i’m gonna be using the second edition rereleases to replace my models that have become warped, or damaged over the last 4 years.

Proper royal guard fins is an insta purchase.

Red Prototype B-Wing.

Ghost with detachable attack shuttle.

Thweek’s StarViper with the bent Wings.

I'd be a sucker for a repaint, even if I stayed with 1.0 and never used the 2.0 gear.

X-Wing: Blue Squadron

Y-Wing: Gray squadron, and a new sculpt based on the Rebels version

A-Wing: Green squadron

B-Wing: Peg it out horizontally

TIE Defender: Yellow prototype stripes

TIE/ln: Inferno squadron

TIE Interceptor: add the Royal Guard fins

Vaksai re-sculpt

S&V = everything that was Hutt Cartel as Black Sun and vice versa

Firespray-31: Jango Fett colors or one of the other named BHs

Man, how did I forget this one? This is just, yes.

Only if the peg goes into the cockpit and you can move it from one side to the other. And the wings fold in and out.

Basically any considerable variation on paint jobs or molding will probably be enough that I'll want to buy them (even if I don't actually buy them).

Hera's A-Wing would be a great addition.

New E-Wing, because that top cannon is just silly.

New Khiraxz for sure - Shapeways makes them and they're gorgeous.

A more detailed Ghost (more real, less cartoon) would be nice and I'll echo the desire for docking shuttles.

Honestly though, I'll probably end up getting a bunch of the ships I already have. i like looking at all my ships sitting on their shelves. It makes me giddy. I make pew pew noises and laugh like a maniac.

Rebels YT2400

StarViper

Ghost

Just about all the variants for the Star Wars Galaxy ships...

In fact, I was in a local game store and came across unpainted Star Trek ships for around $5. If FFG went this route, and included a dial...

Maybe made a few paints that color match existing models..

FFG would own a nice chunk of my wallet.

Don't know why it is not showing up so well but here is the link below, just scroll near the bottom, it shows up in the Appearances box and allows for a better view.

SOLD!

add phantom one and two, and detachable versions.

I have enough ships right now so no real need to replace any of them. However, if they come out with a new sculpt (looking at you Y-Wings and Silencers) or a paint scheme that looks cool to me, I'll grab those.

Resculpts.

I only have one copy of most ships, so I'll probably rebuy almost everything just to get two of most ships.

Assuming this is just about models and not included cards? I'd buy one of anything with new moving parts. New paint jobs and improved sculpts (eg Y-Wing) I'm not so sure about. New sculpt will probably convince me, at least for one, new paint job probably not, unless it's awesome.

A correctly sized A-Wing I would buy a squad's worth of.

I'm a bit disappointed/jealous that they didn't to a Firespray with moving wings and a configuration card, perhaps giving it a stop manoeuvre.

Oddly, I'm just the opposite. Fiddly moving part just seem like something to break. And given that bumping models during play is already an issue, what is the point of having a moving part to adjust, anyways?

Paint jobs and sculpts are awesome, especially for Epic--it makes it easier to designate aces vs. generics or one flight vs. another.

the improved X-wing and Y-wing sculpts are tempting, but I'd really like to see one of the sleeker TIE Defender models where the wings pull in a bit narrower and stick out farther rather than the Decipher sculpt we currently have, I'd grab a couple of those in a heartbeat. I'd also be into a lambda shuttle with a cleaner/whiter paint job and improved folding wings

Moving parts could let things fit without taking the ships off the board :)

Squadron based coloring packs would be cool. Would love to be able to buy a full set of "Inferno" squadron Ties with 4 pre-painted in the inferno themes. Same for something like Green squad a-wings where you get 3-4 to a pack.

Flappy wings don't do much for me. They are so delicate as it is, I have no desire to fiddle with them.

Money.

If I has said money, I'm okay buying anything really, as in 1.0, and likely in 2.0, I have the mindset to only purchase ONE of any particular Sku.

A few more (I'd mentioned these in another thread about the same topic elsewhere):

A new Z95 that looks like the Clone Wars version - longer and sleeker with bigger wings (again, shapeways has one and it's AWESOME).

The TIE Defender Elite from Rebels.

And I believe someone mentioned a Royal Guard TIE Interceptor. I'd pay money for that, even though it's an easy mod to do myself.

Make the CR-90 look like a Hammerhead Corvette with corresponding stats and I'll be all over it. Lol

I'd buy a Blade Wing. Other than that, I won't buy any ships that aren't completely new ships that we haven't had before. Even then, I'll likely convert any new models to 1.0 because I'm not buying conversion kits for my 100+ ships. I plan to stick with 1.0. I only play casually anyway.

Money.

Converting has drained anything I can throw at this for awhile, easily $400 with buying hole ships to fill out conersions. It’s gonna take something crazy special in the next 4 months before ffg see another dime of my money.

That said a cool new sculpt would make me look at something, or a need for a specific ship or two to make a dream squad would make me do it. Paint jobs I am completely neutral on because after painting a few and having left over chaff to practice with I can paint my own. ?
