2e roark's return

By Kdubb, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So as a fun exercise, I went through some of my past tournament lists and updated them to 2.0 standards. This one was my favorite.

Roark has always been one of my favorite pilots, and I think his ability is going to have even more utility in 2.0. I originally had the title on him, but elected to do away with it when I realized the return it gave me for additions for the other pilots. Don't get me wrong, moldy crow is nice, but it would just make Roark an even bigger target.

Homing Missiles and tractor beam I see as sneaky good cards in 2.0. Homing missile is cheap enough that it can be worthwhile ace insurance without being a terrible investment when you don't get the match up, although here, the TL requirement may be more difficult to get than I give credit for.

Tractor beam, with the tokens stacking for each damage that gets through, could really mess with large and medium base ships. Roark can even bump one of the bwings up to init 7 so they can potentially push an enemy ship out of a shot.

Maybe those upgrades are being too "cute" though.

Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks!

Honestly, with a 5 ship squad, I don't think Roark's ability is worth enough. I think it would work plenty well enough for them all to shoot at their own I

This type of squad has worked really well for me in 1.0. You hide Roark in the back, let a b tank some damage (when they used to be able to do that lol), and then bump them to ps 7 to assure they don’t get ps killed when it looks like they are about to go.

It’s nothing special, but Roarks ability gets a lot of use. I feel when you pair Roark with more ships, he’s too clear a target early.

Thats fair - maybe it works better on table than I think on paper!
