Not super enthused by the prospect of it on low I pilots, though

But perhaps Jonus barrage "swarm" will out perform even Howlrunner

I hope so, I like the idea of alternative weapons working and a platform dedicated to said weapons keep the game diverse as you not only just look at ships but what upgrade configuration not just what is the optimal build. Then again when torps/missiles did became meta defining remember all the problems that caused. However I contribute that to only one typs of secondary weapon and not to secondary weapons in general.

Spending die charge is not Part of the attack itself you perform again. All other Cards with charges clearly state when to spend a Change

Bombers are looking pretty great, and Jonus + Barrage + Saturation is an amazing combo. Jonus won’t last, of course, but I’ve been thinking about how to protect him a bit more.

Elusive helps, and of course we could throw points at the problem (shield upgrade, Fifth Brother), but the idea I’m liking is to stick Deathrain right in front of him with Tactical Scrambler. Swap out the Scimitars (2x Barrage) and get Barrage plus launched bombs plus a bodyguard. Leaves some more points to play with, too.

Still, there something about a swarm of five bombers...

Note that for the bonus attack, you ignore the target lock requirement. You do NOT ignore the "spend 1 (shazaam)" requirement.

Core rules state that each ship may perform no more than one bonus attack per round, which prevents chaining.

Bringing the thread back on track...

I tried 6 Proton Bombers last night. Holy crap, that gets scary for the enemy in a joust. There was a turn that I dropped 5 Proton Bombs and all of them hit at least one target.

I don't think this'll ever be a list to compete with once people bring mixed squadrons, but Proton Bombs are pretty solid. I might run some Scimitars with Homing and Protons with Jendon for maximum giggles.

Try Seven Bombers :ph34r: . I actually think a bomber swarm, even naked has some merit. Probably not as good as a Tie Swarm, but it could be a decent squad. Bomber are so **** cheap now. A 1.0 Scimitar with a Proton Torp and EM is 22 points (way out shadowed by the Gunboat). The equivalent 2.0 Bomber with a Proton Torp (built in EM) is 37 points. That's 3.5 points cheaper. You don't get LRS or Chips, but you gain the red reload action. Barrel Roll to TL linked action and a better dial. Tie Bomber is coming back in a big way. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a point increase.

Heck, Maj. Rhymer with APTs and Cluster Missiles is cheaper than a 1.0 naked Rhymer.
