...still havn't seen anything about the Force to make me worry, especially not with guys like ezra costing an obscene amount(18!!!!!)

here are some guys I've found basically making it into every list whereas Force users never seemed to appeal

  1. scum Gunner Han (4!!!!!!!! points, what the ungodly ****!?!??!)
  2. Drea Renthal (scum howlrunner but works with CARTEL MARAUDERS and can pack cloaking device to snake around enemies. Pretty sure he works out of his turret arc?)
  3. Airen Cracken w/Concussion missiles (1 point more than a rookie for I 5 and extra mods in a world where they're rare)
  4. Biggs (he's back, baby!. Also combos well with free actions using the r5 astro)
  5. Both named Punishers (full mods, either Deathrain bombs or Advanced Sensors on Redline also make them immune to blocking and give them actions on red maneuvers)

These guys don't offer perfect action independent modifiers (some conditions may apply), but the effects they have far outweigh a Forcus and they seem incredibly well priced (or silly cheap...Han) to boot

By contrast, only Force card I've really wanted to include is Darth Vader (crew) on Vermeil, especially because he lets you also run 0-0-0 on the Reaper (66 points)

I keep forgetting that R5 doesn't give out a weapons disabled token. It's a really interesting point of balance for being one point cheaper than R2 and essentially getting you to the same end point. I think I agree that R2 is better - you can't attack at all, but you can use your action to shore up defences or evade fire on that turn. R5 means you can still shoot, but you'll probably be doing it tokenless, and you're really stuck if you couldn't get a shot anyway.

But as you say, start throwing free actions in there and it's a different story. Biggs and Garven feel like they pair quite nicely. Who to put with them is a different question. I've got a very silly list involving Garven, Biggs, and Jek with R5s and Hull Upgrade all around (R5-D8 on Jek, natch) and a mix of Adv and normal Proton Torpedoes. It's mostly for fluff and because I never once flew Jek in 1e, despite meaning to fly him with PTL and Stressbot a few times just to watch the carnage.

But realistically it should probably be Wedge or a B-Wing ace, or something.

The other pilots I keep coming back to are

Rexler Brath

Soontir Fel

Turr Phennir

And to be honest, it's been in the same list most of the time. I love all three of these guys, and the fact that they can all just about squeeze into a list has me very excited. I also love how simple list building is at the moment, with so few upgrades on the table compared with the latter days of 1e. I've not been trying for complex interactions here, or using standard optimised builds. Just a talent upgrade for all of them, and FCS on Brath to try and make each one the best they can be.

Sidenote: Drea Renthal is a she. She was a pirate queen with a Dreadnaught who was Lando's girlfriend for a time.

Gonna go ahead and add Palob to the "who the **** needs the force?" list of awesome pilots

don't know his chances v a giant swarm (gotta rely on cloak and HWK boost there), but good god **** lord...people are going to throw FITS against this guy

All you need is Moldy Crow, Lando crew, and Elusive. So many mods, and none for your opponent

Palob cant do squat to Droids, though.

Not sure I am understanding what you mean with him Fickle. He’s the one that lets you do a red focus action on engagement right? Why is 4 points crazy? If you’re stressed he does **** and if you aren’t he stresses you. Not seeing the OPness here, what am I missing?
