Sorry to get your hopes up with a new response and not knowing more. I've been banking on March 31, which is in 17 minutes. If I don't have it in 18 minutes, they're late. But seriously, I strongly believe we'll see them shipped tomorrow.
Usually see the new stuff on the shelves at the FFG event center. Unknown kadath was there a day or two prior to seeing it in other shops.
No such luck tonight.
Perhaps this release was mistaken for the W:I deluxe expansion which came out in the last couple of days.
I am getting antsy for it as well.
Not to give FFG an ounce for excuses, but I was listening to NPR yesterday and they had a segemnt about shipping companies being really low on boats in the water right now due to demand. I guess china is backlogged with shipping containers waiting to be put on the water. This is because shipping companies are trying to reduce overheads by keeping the minimum amount of ships afloat to do business until said business picks up. Sadly, it is picking up and lots of shipments are in chinese limbo until they get their act together.
So if you see other products in your life being out of stock or unavailable, this is the most likely reason why.
Potomac is now showing
April 30th
.
Love the product. But that's just fricken ridiculous. FFG, please tell your loyal fanbase what's going on.
I always write with a nasty tone from work, sorry. I read it later and think, I could have phrased that better. I wonder if it is a shipping matter, or a miscalculation, or a recall, or the pressures of other FFG releases. But, the result is the same.
One might ask why get your hopes up. This is a pattern we should know by now. I, myself am trying to drum up local support. I bang the cthulhu drum every gaming opportunity, certainly with PAX East 2010 gamers I encountered, and at my local gaming stores, Pandemonium and Compleat Strategist. Makes me clam up about the game. Certainly for FFG that is not the desired effect. Sadly, it is even still a pattern.
Spoiler...
Arkham Contraction - neutral event cost 6. Action: Search your deck for the most recently released card and remove it from play. Discard from that deck the next most recently released card to repeat this action. Once you have one card in your deck, repeat this action on your opponent's deck.
"It's all fun and games until someone gets eaten by shoggy."
Hmmmm, seems it may still be quite a while until release.
FFG has updated 'secrets of Arkham' on their upcoming page. It now says "Spring 2010". The next (banal) product on the list has also been updated, this one to "April 2010".
From this I conclude that FFG does NOT expect SoA to be available in April. But I am just interpreting vague oracles here.

Since it is rare for a FFG product to not be late even according to their own scchedule, I would say that they dont expect it to ship until may at the earliest.
Which is dumb, because a deluxe expansion sandwiched in between two asylum pack cycles makes the most sense to do. though I shouldnt give them any ideas because they would then wait until the end of Yuggoth to release it...
Since Christian has gone on record to state that the deluxe expansions will never have 3 of each card, then I doubt that it is delayed due to new collation efforts.
Interesting Hellfury. Did Christian indeed communicate anything since way back when? The above specifics aren't my point and have been long know - that Arkham Contraction will be 2X.
I read this concerning the collation in a thread at BGG. It is a very recent posting by Christian. I will try to find it.
Basically, it amounted to a lot of assumptions that since the asylum/battle/chapter pack collation was being fixed if the deluxe expansion will ever be 3X as well. He said this will never happen.
As for other info, no.
Hrm. Does that then indicate that pre-exisiting APs will someday be reprinted in 60-card format? Kettle of fish.
Still no news ... Wonder why FFG did'nt send us something on the board ??? (commercialwise, it's not a good move)
The FFG website is showing spring 2010. Not to jack the thread, but i saw the next Asylum Pack releases on april 30? Is this right?
Since the release schedule seems to hit on the first friday of each month, the new cycle is long overdue on top of Arkhams delay. Though the next cycle (according to the upcoming release portion of this site) is listed as still at the printers. Not even listed as on the boat....
Hopefully speaking with James Hata this weekend during the regionals will answer some of these questions, though since he is a designer people at FFG dont like to answer questions that dont pertain to their area of work. (A.K.A. "Not my yob")
If I were to guess (and this is only a guess) since CoC is the least successful of the three LCG's, I would guess that priority for schedule for Invasion and game of thrones is theirs while CoC is a backburner "It'll get there when we have nothing better to do" attitude. Its harsh and possibly unfair to FFG, but silence on the issue leads to such postulation. A remark from FFG could easily clear this issue up.
If I am correct, then it leads to self fulfilling prophecy. it isnt a clear marketing success, so it gets delayed. People lose interest leading to more lack of sales which leads to FFG putting it further back on the burner, etc.
There was a brief period when cthulhu was at the vanguard, when the first black border asylum packs came out. We were the canary in the coal mine, the mi-go scout, the shoggoth fodder that showed other lagging collectible card games the path to survival. I believe this game warms FFG cackles more than any other LCG.
I also believe that the upcoming release page, with all its errors and changes and delays and rescheduling is FFGs way of being in touch with us on the matter.
Agree with Shoes. This does not, however, salve my disappointment at FFG seldom, if ever, visiting our boards and commenting.
Regionals are set. The third AP block and Secrets of Arkham are out soon. FAQ 1.1 is still the recent rules update, with noteable changes to Descendant of Eibon, Trent Dixon, Military Bike, and the slaying of Aspiring Artist. There's a new Mulligan Rule and new Story Rule when Investigate does not resolve once active characters are gone. Fourteen cards are currently spoiled including three new subtypes - Student, Serpent, and Lunatic. Tactics are next. Also Diseased Sewer Rats and Feint . Marius supplies our weekly article and spoil. The new LCG balance is temporarily set - Agency Hastur Eibon Dog deck over New Shub. Come the end of April, at our luckiest, will an eight card per faction "infusion" really make much difference? Interesting to see.

I'm not even unhappy about the delay. It gave me the time to catch up with the Dreamlands APs and get to know them in and out. I'm really looking forward to the new story cards, though.
What I don't get is why the Upcoming page has had it listed as being 'on the boat' for what, a month or more? It suggests that something has gone wrong somewhere, which means that there's really no way at all of knowing when it'll be released.
I think the problem a lot of people has is not so much that they des need the new cards, but more a question of FFG's attitude towards the game. I'm not saying that this particular problem proves that there's a problem, but just that I imagine that that's why people are worried. I am annoyed about the delay too, but I wouldn't have a problem with it if we had known all along that it wouldn't be released until May or 2025 or whenever they get round to it.
It seems that many other people, especially outside the US, have the more immediate problem that I have, which is to find a reasonably sized pool of regular players, so as to have a good environment in which to play.
The Asylum Pack blocks have been our regular releases. They basically were available monthly. That will resume with YC. FFG here has been consistent. In the dark (border) days of CCG AP, it was like jumping from iceberg to iceberg. The Expansion delay, though, is the real stunner as far as it goes. We have long (long) needed this expansion. It's so overdue, we're actually late for a third expansion. Why not. Thrones. But instead we're still on the gdamn kitchen table with per faction like nine events and eight support. That's long been my tone on that matter though. On to two very soonly upcoming releases, wicked!

They were consistent...atleast until Yuggoth...whenever that will be released. (*cough*stillatprinters*cough*)
I don't know if it is significant, or if it has already been mentioned, but Amazon, both .com and .co.uk, list Secrets of Arkham as being published on 11 may 2010...
I feel we need to ease up and give ffg some slack. The next cycle should start the new card counts per Asylum Pack. So, they may need to change a lot of behind the scenes stuff, like pack size, shipping costs, etc, that may be eating up time for other things like "Secrets of Arkham". Once this gets settled I bet we'll see it become more routine. For now I have plenty of cards and deck construction possibilities to beat my opponents up with.
Im actually making the most of this time between sets to iron out a lot of the workings of questionable cards.
Could it be that FFG hopes to avoid introducing a whack of new cards this close to Regionals? I dunno. I'm grasping at straws. Benefit of the doubt!
