Just saw this, what do people think of it? Is it a bit too redundant or a nice juxtapose to what has come before?
I can say at least it looked like a cool shot, if a tad perhaps excessive as a means to deal with that kind of 'junk'.

Mh, I like the shot ultimately used a lot, so I wouldn't want to change that. Also seems like a bit of a pain to make chronologicaly clear. It is pretty cool, still, but I prefer what we got.
Too close a copy to the opening of Star Wars.
Cool idea, and I would probably have liked it if it was what we got, but I prefer the idea that the ship graveyard is the remains of a big battle between the Empire and the New Republic and not just a dumpster for the Galaxy. I think that the battle of Jakku is an interesting part of the new canon.
Although I might use the idea in my campaign of Star Wars RPG. Thanks for sharing!

You know, to an extent if they ever did a film focusing on IG-88 it wouldn't likely be a bad way to sort of repurpose this kind of opening. If I remember correctly he operated on that one junk/trash planet, just swap the ISD out with something else. Plus, it would probably be cool to see the him interacting with the Droid Gotra and allows for more CIS droid fun in the OT era.

Ord Mantell is the planet you're thinking of. They wouldn't even need to swap it out for another ship. In the Shadows of the Empire video game, the train you take to confront IG-88 passes underneath the bridge of a derelict destroyer.

Ah right, probably wasn't thinking it was Ord Mantell due to be used to how it looked in SWTOR. And yea the ISD could work, or as I'm typing this a CIS craft could work too like it is a place that is dismantling old Clone Wars stuff so IG is there to build up Droid Army forces from Clone Wars scraps and deactivated droids. Regardless, I now sort of just want an IG-88 film.
In the new canon, it would now be Quantxi, the junk moon of Ord Mantell. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Quantxi

In fairness, a lot can happen to a planet in several millennia.

Yea, just think Alderann once used to have a real big bug problem but thanks to the Empire's space station sized can of raid they were able to wipe out the infestation.

As someone with somewhat of a phobia regarding bugs, I suddenly find myself sympathizing much more with the Empire.

Then, out of curiosity could I ask why you choose an avatar of a Pray Mantis?

Because FFG didn't have Wasp available.
...
No, seriously! The only reason I found out about FFG in the first place was because I played Legend of the Five Rings, and I followed that when it was sold to FFG. Naturally, I wanted to use an L5R image, so I went with the mon of my favorite Great Clan, Mantis. (FFG only had the Great Clans, otherwise I would have gone with my favorite Minor Clan, Wasp.) So basically, I liked the clan, and their symbol was just an unfortunate side effect. Though, the fact that it's stylized means it's not too bad.
