Have hope! If it sees no play whatsoever they will start to experiment with points and slots. So the toilet seat flown by the bounty hunter with toilet paper on his head will return to adequacy eventually. After his overpowering stench is wiped and flushed from memory.

I'm not bitter, I played it a bit at some point, but I play mostly empire anyway.

I hated it when it was tripple torpedo boat. But this was dead even before the Harpoon missile that made the meta even worst. They were heavly played for a year, lets not exagerate. They were out in 2016 and where dead before 2018... so no one can have seen them for yearS...

Right now, I hate the idiot Ghost Fenn followed by Nymranda period way more

Edit: FFG have a way to over nerf just to show they can do it... I'm way more bitter about the TIE Phantom that was too good for a couple of month, then disapeared and never received a new life and now they just litterally destroyed it...

The only thing that is "destroyed" on the Phantom is attack dice going down to 3 and hull from 2 to 3, all of which is actually fine. It has allowed Whisper to go down from costing nearly half your list to field to her being, fully kitted out, maybe a third of your list. Her ability is great, the Phantom chassis is designed to be one of the few ships that double token stack, and they don't even need to fill the Crew slot to be formidable. Juke Whisper is brutal and really hard to land hits on and she's only 56 points, which is only about a quarter of your list. I'm already practicing my Phantom game, Echo and Whisper will be solid aces to choose for any Imperial player.

@Praetorate of the Empire Is correct, juke whisper will be a thing. And phantoms didn’t get destroyed their OP stealth mechanic got destroyed. The ship will work great just not the way it used to. Personally I still think it’s one of the better looking tie variants. Way better than the (third wheel interceptor) defenders, ugh. Great ship but it looks like a 10-year-old got into a model kit.

Explain to me how it is hard to hit at two dice defenses. Even with an evade it still block maximum 2 hits. Yes you can double stack IF no one shot at you or if they did you had perfect evade every time.

It is destroyed because the Phantom had an identity that is now gone... Cloak is just a "free movement" at start of activation, hardly something giving the impression of cloak.

I never said they are unplayable, but they cost more then an X-Wing for a ship I still need to be convinced they are better then them.

Sure, you can Quad field them with Juke...

Edit: I wonder why the YT-2400 having now a better 4 dice attack in double arc is acceptable but the Phantom could not keep it...

There were Deci/Whisper lists in tourny finals all the way to the end of 1st edition.

It died off mainly do to the PS10+ meta.

I'm curious to see in which one... it is 49th on Meta Wing... Clearly not dominating anything...

And a ship that is destroyed by PS10 + is kind of far from OP...

I don’t get what you aren’t getting. It was OP. Period. They nerfed it and it was ps killed into oblivion, like a lot of things. They didn’t make it again because it was too hard to balance. And when scum got their version it sucked even more than nerfed phatoms. I love phatoms too, one of my favorite looking ships but I don’t think they lost identity. On the contrary they gained identity in 2.0 as a viable ace alternative at fair points. If you wanted a cloaking ship that would sucker punch and overpower people might I suggest a video game because there is no way you’re getting that in table top.

I an certainly not a veteran TIE Phantom player, but i think there is a lot of weight on deciding whether to Decloak in the System Phase, Decloak then Cloak back up in the Activation Phase with an Evade at your disposal, or to Decloak and shoot. I think all of them have validity. On top of all of this, using the Decloak AND Barrel Roll can give you a prestigious amount of Range control, which will be difficult, but with practice, doable.

As for being better than an X-Wing...

Well, I've easily become a diehard Imperial player, especially with the transition to 2.0. I'm excited to see this very unique piece of the Imperial arsenal at a reasonable cost. I think the flight style of the Phantom alone makes it superior to many more mundane ships and it should remain a ship that is extremely difficult to catch in arc, particularly within knife-fighting range. It can also turn up its Evade dice from 2 to 4 whenever it wants AND can open with 3 to 5 with a 6!!! point Stealth Device. It really isn't difficult to hit any ship on any chassis with 2 Evade dice, but the wise Phantom player mostly won't be shot at in the first place. And if they are, well, they have more Hull than they used to.

They might not be better than an X-Wing, especially for an unskilled player. But I think the Phantom can be played at a much higher skill level than the X-Wing solely based on its actions and movements.

Probably because Sabine, TLT, VI, Bombs and others reigned supreme. Honestly, I wasn't playing during Wave 6, but from what I understand, they needed to be nerfed. And I'll echo @Rakaydos, you're just wrong. People have continued to play Whisper, she just wasn't OP hotness. She was still plenty good, there were simply easier ships to fly in the meta at the time.

What? Everything can get destroyed by PS10. And they weren't overpowered after the nerf, no one in this thread has said they were.
