System slots!!!
Heck with this, Punishers, Bombers, and Strikers have a GUNNER slot!
Empire has a lot of systems. TIE v1, gunboat, TIE/D, plus the existing Lambda, TIE/ca, TIE/ph, TIE/x1.
Just throwing Advanced Sensors or FCS on so many different platforms sounds exciting.

Uh... DEFENDER has a System slot.

Its in my list, between gunboat and Lambda.
It actually looks like imperial ships have more upgrade slots in general than in 1.0, which should help compete in combowing.
Which unfortunately at the moment is basically "FCS for everyone with multiactions, AdvSensors for the others"
Theres only 4 sensor slots atm and one is bomb specific while the other is....collision detector....
Remember Adv Sensors changed, it now denies any further actions this activation. So you cant link-action or perform free actions if you use this.

Being able to take a single action in a turn where you execute a red maneuver/overlap an obstacle/overlap a ship is very valuable; being able to boost or barrel roll before your maneuver is very valuable.
For example, a TIE phantom could decloak, get it's free evade action, then barrel roll using Advanced Sensors. It's the equivalent of a 4-speed barrel roll.
A TIE defender could boost before a 4-k, changing an easy to block maneuver into a nearly impossible to block one, at the cost of an evade.
Lots of good stuff.

Vessery might be the happiest with his System slot, since his ability is an improved 1.0 FCS AND he could take AS on top of it...
Im hyped about gunboats, TAPs and Punishers.
None shall stand in our way.

Collision Detector is a lot better now, letting you completely ignore the obstacle for the rest of the turn. This prevents all damage, gives you your action, and allows you to shoot if you're still on it.
So what do you do with a gunner slot on a TIE Bomber?
No modification slot on TIE/D -- good call.

Skill Bombadier or Fifth Brother.
probably going to staple FCS/Juke/HLC to any defender i run. Unless we get some new sensors. HLC is cheap enough to bring it for the heck of it now, if you manage to line up the bullseye 4die attack at range 2-3 ftw while still having a respectable attack w/o it and not feel cheated.

Fifth Brother + Redline, anyone?

Ohhh yeah
Vessery loves FCS Gunboats as wingmen.
The Vessery/Maarek/Nu Squadron list I loved at the tail end of 1e won't be possible, sadly.
But I can flip things over and run Vess with two kitted out Rhos for that ultimate TIE Fighter (the PC game) feeling.
I'm thinking Vess with Advanced Sensors, Juke and Ion Cannon (105) with 2x Rho Squadron pilot with FCS, HLC, Homing Missiles and the Assault configuration (47).
Or alternatively, with the Ordnance configuration and Advanced SLAM for the same cost.
