So... has anyone ran EotE/AoR/FaD, but used a non-SW setting?

By Dusk Raven, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Heretical, perhaps, but I'm strongly considering it for my own adventures with FFG's Star Wars RPG. It's not that I don't like Star Wars as a setting, it's just... well, this is a setting I've been working on in some fashion for most of my life (has it been 15 years? 16? I really can't remember) and I really want the chance to run it. And, after considering my options, I've decided that Edge of the Empire et al. is the best system for it. ...Besides, I really like EotE.

Anyway, I've been doing a bit of homebrewing, and I wanted to ask if anyone else had undertaken such projects - and if I could expect any support if I posted about my efforts on here. After all, this is a Star Wars RPG - would it be taboo to use it for anything other than Star Wars?

Someone homebrewed a fantasy version at some point (prior to genesys). Edge of the Kingdom is what it was called if i remember correctly. I'm sure if you search the forums you'll find it.

Honestly.... if you've put the work in and you've got players then go forth and have fun. I doubt anyone here will fault you. While we do focus on the sacred cow that is Star wars I don't think anyone would be negative. That being said you may find more specific help in the genesys forums but don't let that stop you from asking.

Definitely check out the Genesys stuff.

Someone had told me that FFG had released a system that was very much like Edge of the Empire et al, but they didn't know the name. I guess that's Genesys? I will indeed investigate. I admit I had assumed it was for a specific fantasy setting, but I'm pleased to hear that I'm wrong. I will investigate immediately!

While the default setting is fantasy there are other settings as well that can be used (though no sourcebooks yet) And yes the system is Genesys. GENEric SYStem

Genesys is a generic system intended to be used for any setting. The Genesys forum has a specific subforum for homebrew:

I would say the default setting is not fantasy. The first source book for it just happens to be for their fantasy setting.

Fair comment.

Well, my friend described it as designed to work with the same setting as Legacy of Dragonholt, hence my confusion. I'm perfectly happy to use it for a fantasy setting, of course.

The game I play in, our GM did exactly that. He had it done and we were playing before Genesys came out, so he just adapted Star Wars stuff where necessary for a game set entirely on one planet with no space travel or even satellites.

Does using old FGU Space Opera modules for my EotE count ?

In the early 80's I've played a lot of FGU Space Opera including all the published adventures and many other I wrote. It seemped natural for me to unburry all this stuff and use it with Star Wars FFG.
