Adversary Attack Damage

By Jericho0ne, in Rules Questions

Hi all,

I can't seem to find a reference to this and I'm unsure exactly how it works.

In an adversary profile, they have listed equipment with weapons stats i.e.
Equipment: Really big and sharp knife (Melee; Damage 5; Critical 3; Range [Engaged]; Pierce 2)

Does mean this adversary only does 5 damage or do you add their brawn or any other modifiers (e.g. number of successes)?

I guess, in the example above, the big knife and their brawn are already totalled. So do you add 1 for every success?

Thanks in advance,
Jericho0ne

This is correct. The weapon damage includes any talents and the addition of the appropriate characteristic. All you need to do is add the uncanceled Success and you’re good to go.

Thank you!! :)

More generally on this topic: is it +1 for uncanceled success including or beyond the first? (I.e. is the actual minimum damage 5 or 6 in the example)?

It's every uncanceled success.

As Swordbreaker said, "every uncancelled success", including the first one. So, all damages are actually at least +1 when attack hits. So minimum damage in this case is 6.

By the way, while some might question why we have such a thing as 'base damage' but you always do at least +1 more than base damage, there are cases where you do not increase the damage. Parry (Improved) is a case, where the character deals base damage to their opponent. As there are no success to add, this simply does your base damage.
