BoLS Tie Fighter Unboxing.

By MegaSilver, in X-Wing

Oooooh shoot Seyn has an EPT!

Thanks for posting this. I’m glad to see the quick build for Seyn has Marksmanship. Now, a well flown Seyn can get a very nice hit-to-crit mod for lining up the bullseye arc, then cancel the crit to get under-shields damage. Cue Inferno Squadron wingmates!

But this also further demonstrates the limitation of quick build cards. A proper named TIE Fighter swarm is usually around 6 fighters but since all the names ones are Threat Level 2, we end up with an underwhelming 4 TIE’s... can’t wait until the app is released.

Yeah, and I really like her quick build.

Yeah I wonder if they are worried about swarms for quickplay. A properly run swarm can appear insurmountable to newer players.

haven't watched the vid yet. Was he too scared to make the wings spin?

It would have been nice to see an original TIE by comparison, I think there's some exquisite detailing on the 2.0 version, but to see the two side by side, it would have been nice to get a visual comparison (sort of like: Here's a model I painted three years ago, and here's the same model I've done today). Everyone ought to be proud of the improved changes in product.

I'm fairly certain it is the exact same mold as the one we have in 1.0 but in a ESB blue color scheme instead of an ANH white one. The Advance seems to the be the same, they likely wanted to just promote unity/conformity of the color of Imperial ships.

Eh, I kind of like being able to have a uniform group rather than having everyone else in ESB blue while the main line fighter is ANH white. Still, if you want to fly ANH white Tie Fighters now is the time to buy up 1.0 stuff, buy stuff off those quitting X-Wing with the edition change, or wait until 2.0 drops and 1.0 stuff goes on sale.

In 1.0, getting 6 named TIES was hard to do (most likely you wouldn't be able to take any upgrades). In terms of building a swarm with threat cards, you can include the threat level 1's from the core set.

Understood, but the Threat Level 1’s are all generic pilots with no upgrades. So even a 5 or 6 ship list with Crack Shot isn’t possible using quick builds. I like the format, but it’s limited.

Yup, they just bloat them out with overpriced mods to make them cost ~ 50 points so they round easily.

But in a way that’s kinda cool. We already know what happens most of the time with optimized lists, it’s called every op event to date. Winning without big money and fabulous prizes in your ship is far more interesting to me on what skill means to fly. If threat cards were optimized it wouldn’t be any different than the list building **** show that is experienced at every event.

There is a middle ground between super optimized op npe ships and the terrible builds they have here. The least they could have done was overspend past 50 points and rounded down to make up for how inefficient having two mods on a 3 hull ship that is so prone to getting oneshot.

Uniform is nice. But I’d rather it was uniform grey/white than blue.

Actually, I want all my ties repainted with silver. I did one and it looks great, but way to tedious for me. I need to find someone local who I can get to repaint a squadron for me at a reasonable price.

From the films the only starfighters in Imperial White/Grey are the Tie Fighters and Tie Advanced with the Advanced Prototype, Bomber, Interceptor, and Defender showing up in that color only in Rebels. It just makes sense that they go with the color scheme most used in the OT era.

As for your own collection I wish you the best of luck, I know I saw someone do up a TIE/sf in silver to be Phasma's fighter and it looks great so I'm sure yours will look great once you find someone to paint them up.

Has anyone else noticed that Crack Shot is not in the core sets and only in the Tie expansions? It's also in the Scum and Rebel conversion kits but not the Imperial conversion kit. I'm new to the game and I was planning to get 2 core sets and one tie advanced to start my Imperial list. The demo games all seem to have Crack Shot on all of the Tie fighters except the advanced. I guess this means I'd have to buy 4 Tie expansions to get the Crack Shots?

Yeah, totally understandable that they went with the blue, just not my personal preference. But I know I’m an odd man out on that issue (and many others).

You had me worried but according to Bells of the lost souls Imperial Conversion Kit unboxing ... 3 crack shots are included.

Interesting! I didn't see them listed in the video. I guess that's good for 1.0 veterans, doesn't solve the issue for new to 2.0 players unless I missed Crack Shot in the core set too? I'll have to doublecheck.

I believe you are right regarding crack shot not being included in the core set.

Regarding the cards ... I think FFG has stated they will be selling upgrade cards in wave packs. So I would expect a wave 1 upgrade card pack ... but I don't know for sure.

We also don't know if cards will be mandatory for tournaments. The APP could solve a lot of these upgrade card issues.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I couldn't find Crack Shot in any of the Core set unboxing videos I saw, and I can't find any lists showing exactly what's in there.

Not really. The threat cards are all over the place. Some such as these TIEs and the Y-wing without a turret are borderline unplayable, some such as Luke and Wedge are reasonable if maybe not optimised, and then some such as Norra and freaking Vader look like a constructed player's dream.

Threat card tournaments will be just as heavily influenced by list building. The only difference is it will be a bit easier to build a good list by combining the good threat cards.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. While CS is no doubt going to be a good card, the lists in the demo videos were almost certainly made without a lot of thought and based on components that were handy. I REALLY wouldn’t be looking to those lists as a goal for what to run.

Seyn Marana got afterburners on the quick card but I don't see the upgrade card on the box, sad !

But love to play with Inferno squadron ! :)
