2nd Edition Pilots - Winners & Losers: Rebel Edition

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing

Corran should be counted with the losers. His 2.0 cost is 37 when adjusted for 1.0, 2 points more than before, and his ability is much weaker than it was in 1.0.

But his chassis is way better.

Oh my friends, the Bs are glorious! I'm gonna be flying Ten and Braylen with AdSen and Elusive (Ten also gets HLC) as the foundation of a brawlers list. Slow roll in, when close to engage, Braylen AdSen focuses and leaps 4 forward to enable his ability for a fully modded attack, while Ten TLs and 3 forwards, hopefully getting his HLC shot. On later turns, once everyone is closer together, they really shine. Ten tries to AdSen TL and then pull a red every turn for full mods, though occasionally he'll have a settle for just a TL, while Braylen has 3 options: focus into a red move, which must be followed by a either a blue into a TL or a blue into a Focus-Roll if he won't have to turn around next turn

All this talk of unfortunate B-wings... You must unlearn what you have learned. Or rather, go back to simpler times. The B-wing was a rebel powerhouse before the post-Phantom power creep hit. We have gone back to the late wave 3 meta power-wise. The B-wing sidn't need much help. The only thing it suffers from is X-wings now being worth their points, so they have an actual viable competitor.

Edit: Okay, the B-wing has lost something; Advanced sensors is now more expensive. But I don't think that's a deal breaker, especially since the other components of Biggs walks the Dogs got cheaper- The 2.0 version would have 7 points to add upgrades.

52 point Wedge is absolute madness. This is the silliness I was expecting initial 2e pilots costings to be. And Luke is actually costed near perfectly.

  • The generic Z-95 is actually a big winner at 23 points.
  • The U-wing is merely 2 points more than the baseline X-wing and it gains 2 hit points, so big win there.
  • Corran is still the only playable E-wing
  • Auzituck is a big loser all around from what I see
  • Dash is correctly costed, Han Solo is undercosted
  • THANK GOODNESS for rebel Fenn Rau costing 52 points. This costing is correct & he'll still be good.

Here are some generic pilot efficiencies.

I disagree that Corran is the only playable E-wing

The chassis makes e-wings waaaaaay more valuable and you tack on r3 and fire control and you have some pretty powerful jousters wrecking havok on the board

I'd put E-wings as mostly winners, their only loss is if the lowest one was one point cheaper they could get three of them on the board and really stand toe-toe with dual defender lists

The biggest loser is the Ghost in my opinion. Went from being one of the top ships in the game to:

-losing two shields (and not gaining any equivalent hull like the other ships that lost shields did)

-losing evade for the new worse reinforce

-losing tlt and it's free end of round Cannon shot means it's multi-angle coverage is significantly decreased. And the bonus attack is a super situational TIE SF like rear arc shot which is incredibly difficult to ever pull off and you're better to just run one of the new gunners instead of having an attack shuttle docked.

-rear shot went from 4 dice down to 3 or even 2 with the Phantom 2.

-lost it's 5 flip for a 4 flip, decreasing mobility

-Can't modify posistion anymore (unlike the other two large Rebel ships that have boost/barrel roll) which means that 0 agility + bad reinforce + lost shields = this ship is going to be a sitting duck that dies fast

-Kanan's ability is decidedly much worse as it appears to no longer work on himself and when the Ghost is half your list or more, a non-functional ability is a huge detriment.

- Chopper hands out two Jams instead of stress

-no rear torpedo slot at least that we can see

So all in all several nerfs and no real buffs

Oh, this is SO delicious.

Please complain about the Maul + Ezra nerf... It would make my day.

Mr Antilles, I don't feel so good...

Here's hoping we get a Rogue Squadron Epic Set, filled with tons of X-Wing pilots (both in and out of Rogue Squadron), and including twelve X-Wing models painted like the custom paint schemes the Rogues had when they went independent to chase Isard.

I have no clue what use I would have for all that, but I would certainly buy it all the same.

If I run the B-wings after v2, Ion / Tractor will likey be the way I go.

Problem is, FFG doesn't seem to have yet understood that cannons need to be multiple price upgrades, depending on your primary value. 5 pts ion cannon for a B-wing is too much.

B wings are looking good as full on brawlers/ knife fighters now, especially ten numb, though I get the feeling the E-2 mod will be released in the expansion pack to give us a reason to buy it

Nah I'll just say I'm really glad they toned down the X-1, Phantoms and Fel ;)

I mean... The question was which pilot/ship was a loser... The ghost clearly lost a lot.

Not sure I would say that’s complaining. ?
