Here's what I want to see in 2.0

What should his crew ability be? I'm thinking maybe faction unrestricted? Dark Side force ability of some kind? Maybe...suffer one critical damage to randomly reset an opponent's dial.

Yeah, no.

Yeah I think a lot of folks are thinking it and I'm glad you posted it.

I think a stress mechanic would be the way to go with JJB. Action: Assign the How Rude condition to an enemy ship at range 0-1. If the how rude condition ship does not reveal the same dial as the ship with JJB during activation, it receives 1 stress token at the start of the engagement phase and returns the condition to JBB.

At the start of the game, lose 3 charges.

If your movement would result in you overlapping an obstacle or bumping another ship, gain a charge.

You may spend 3 charges to assign a critical to another ship at range 0

I know there's not a lot of love for Binks. Personally I think he's hilarious. Having him as a crew card would be incredible:

Jar Jar (Crew)
-10 points

Upon revealing your dial, Roll one evade die: if (Focus) rotate your dial two maneuvers clockwise to the right. If (Evade) rotate your dial three maneuvers counter-clockwise to the left.

Stress every ship in Range 1 including friendlies.

Jar Jar Binks (crew) - When you overlap a friendly ship, assign a Jam token to that friendly ship, and an Evade token to yourself.

Knowing X-Wing though, they would try to make a "joke" Jar Jar upgrade that's "so bad" that no one would ever use it... and it ends up being accidentally the final piece to a gamebreaking combo (looking at you, 1.0 genius!)

My idea is slightly more in touch with the OP's proposal.

Darth Binks (Crew) (1 Force Token)

Reduce your Agility by one. (Balancing factor for being only one crew slot+ Jar Jar keeping up appearances by causing problems)

After a ship rolls attack or defense dice, you may spend one force token to change a focus to a blank or a blank to a focus.

Ookay Palpie, yousa manipulated me.

Kind of a fun mechanic honestly, especially with the drawbacks it entails.

Every time he kills someone after his bouncing buffoon persona has been peeled back to reveal a soulless, shuffling creature of the dark side:

This was nothing more than a joke a short 10 days ago...

Until we actually see Sith Jar Jar, it's still a joke.

The Sith part definitely still is, but regular Crew Jar Jar is a bigger possibility than ever now.

I'm a fan of a version someone posted in a different topic.

When you bump or overlap an obstical, gain a charge. Spend 3 charges for (effect)

I’m sure this isn’t related, but does anyone know what the “J. J.” In J. J. Abrams stands for?

It's either Jar Jar or Jonah Jamenson

Jar Jar Binks, Crew

For every enemy ship in Range 1 of a ship with Jar Jar Binks at the start of the Engagement Phase, his ship gains a stress token. However, it also has 1 bonus Evade result vs all attacks from enemy ships in Range 1
