Action after a lieutnant encounter

By Dexnus, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Dear Descent-Fans,

Imagine the following situation: The heroes are in a town which is being besieged by a lieutnant. If the lieutnant does not attack the group (because he is afraid of being cut into pieces) and the heroes decide to encounter him what can they do after the encounter? Just visit Tamalir or do a full training?

(If the lieutnant attacks it seems clear to me that the heroes have a full week since the overlords turn is first and the heroes' is second)

We found that the Caverns of Thuul are a little bit hard for the heroes. We thought of opening all three areas so fewer monsters would appear as he cannot place more figures than he actually has in stock, so to say. What do you think about that? It is a legal strategy isn't it?

Please share your thoughts with me!

Thank you!

Wolfgang

We didn't have a problem with the Caverns of Thuul, though I highly recommend hitting it before the OL can upgrade one of his monsters (i.e. blitz a few dungeons to get some good weapons, then head up to the legendary, wait a few weeks if necessary for the OL to gain more CPs than you).

As for the Lt action, it technically takes place during movement... as an encounter. So even if the party doesn't ever leave the town, they still are limited to a visit action as they left the town to fight, then re-entered.

But, I would agree that if the Lt attacked them during the OL turn, then they would still get their full turn.

And yeah, Legendary Dungeons are supposed to be hard for the party... that's due to the rewards they get out of them. ;)

In order for the Party to initiate the encounter with a LT they have to take a MOVE week action (as opposed to Train) and thus can only VISIT the town they are at.

Your strategy for Thuul is technically legal but keep in mind that the if the OL wants to spawn monsters that he is out of figures for, he can take them off of the board to accomodate this.
