Darkness rises, and the light to meet it - or "why we have an amazing community"

By ManInTheBox, in Star Wars: Armada

With all the doom and gloom following the hyperfake blunder and the silent treatment from FFG, I wanted to take a moment to salute the excellent community that we have built.

On the front page of the forums right now are long writeups of three separate homebrew (or modified) campaign systems for Armada.

Sector war is back

Siege of the Arkanis sector

Chapter 1: the Abafar campaign

THREE!

FFG may not be generating us any new content but we have three people with their own lives to live who have taken their own time to share content in an attempt to give us more ways to enjoy the game, for free.

That's a really positive way of engaging and trying to give back to the community. That's why this game has such a great crowd: people love this game and want to help make it better for everyone.

Sure, we have the odd AdmiralNelson and there are some big personalities that butt heads sometimes, but that doesn't detract from what we've achieved in the face of negligible support.

Thanks to everyone out there, building communities, turning up to games nights every week, putting on events, creating homebrew rules, and to almost everyone I've ever played for being a great opponent.

For those about to rock(et), we salute you.

Those guys too!

Plus the people giving their time and critical thinking skills as pseudo-moderators (don't make me @ you, D), and those creating YouTube and podcast content. *new episode checking intensifies*

If you jerks don't reflexively hate Legion (it is X-Wing 2.0 eating up the painted mini factory space!) I have a combination Armada / Legion Operation you can play.

For the record! I think legion looks Awesome and I want to play it! Right after I catch up on the 200-300$ I would want to use on Armada (down from the 800-1000$ I was calculating before the rules update, Thanks FFG)

TIL Disturbed covered Sound of Silence.

I like it.

And kind of crushed it too. I'm not much for metal, but this cover is legit.

...though my partner did point out that this grandiose arrangement is very 'musical theatre'!

Off topic, briefly, but relevant to this, Shinedown's cover of Simple Man is superior to the original as far as I'm concerned.

Ok, sorry for the diversion!

Let us all just be thankful that I have no true power here.

Be Sad I dont have any real power here...

If I did, Armada would have content dropping a bit more often, or at least Id force FFG to publicly apologize.

Gee, since we are all sharing created content, give our Battle of Atollon scenario a go!

@ianediger I've done that before myself.

You guys inspired me to step it up a bit with a 1200 point battle. Took your advice and added a custom objective, (even though it was simple) and while it was a long game, it was pretty cool!

Hey, your mission 2 link goes to mission 3.

It is all linked properly in the Ground Commander's section.

I will fix later.

Thanks @BiggsIRL

I've just listened to a summary of the first two rounds of the campaign in the Outer Rim Job podcast.

If I can find a group playing legion, I'd love to have a go of this.
